Unless these maps have a day/night cycle I doubt ray tracing will help that much. You can fake a lot of stuff in relatively static lighting with AO.

The screen tells you how many players in the bottom right when you hit tab.

Things could be going better

I would have a lot less issues with this if I could carry one more gadget. Yeah you could be a team player and bring ammo and medpacks, or you could be a striker and take AA/AT to take out vehicles, or protect yourself with armor plates like uhhh cod warzone. But you can only have *one*, and to change you have to respawn.

Previous games balanced classes with upsides and downsides. The person with the ammo supply had bad anti-tank, for example. But making you pick just one smacks of "well, YOU balance it if you think you are so smart".

I had this issue in BF1 and BFV on my 1440p ultrawide so I did this fix before even launching the game and the footage came out correctly.

Open your User.cfg in the Battlefield 2042 folder. Add the following 2 lines

Window.height 1440
Window.width 3440

Then in Origin right click on 2042, go to Game Properties I think it's called, Advanced Launch Options and in the command line field put

-noborder

There's a borderless option in the game UI as well, not sure if that matters.

It's this for sure. It's lame as gently caress that you can't see the whole team and it definitely feels like it's made that was to obscure the bot/player ratio

There's some weird issue with Frostbite, Ultrawide and shadowplay sometimes even regular 16:9 screens. When you first launch the game and you get that black window that's about 720 pixels tall sometimes, not always, Shadowplay will latch onto that as the in game resolution and record everything at 1280x720 as far as I can tell. So if you're playing 21:9 you get an absolutely hosed up horizontally squashed video

I don't think they're trying to obfuscate anything. I think we're playing a 2 month old build that wasn't really meant to be a demo.

Every time you start a match, it's a brand new match. I think what's happening is that there's no join-in-progress function, so the solution is to replace anyone who leaves the match with a bot. By the end of the match, the real player population is like half what it started as.

There is definitely join-in-progress, it’s just that it doesn’t work half the time.

That's part of what makes me question things. It's a 2 month old build that got polished up of a game that's allegedly been in development for quite a while now and they haven't figured out how to bring up the map or adjust the minimap zoom?

This is kinda where I'm at too, and again this is the same poo poo we I did with Anthem where "it's an old build" is wishful thinking but the game's been in development for years, so even if the old build thing is true is this really the state this game was in just two months ago?

I'm not saying it's a good sign, I fully expect a trainwreck on launch, I'm just saying this has "contractual obligation" written all over it. It's clearly not ready, and that's never the devs fault.

Sometimes I ask it to spawn a cool fun Jeep and it puts me on a random objective. There's a lot of fun stuff here and I think this is going to turn out fine but right now there's a lot of frustrating things, such as when character selection freaks out or like the gunner seats giving you wild motion sickness or airplanes moving like plastic bags in the wind.

I think that's the key though, they clearly wanted to make things fun again. And that's still there past all the weird mouse deadzone bizarreness. It's easier to patch that stuff than to add fun in.

:dice: removed legitimately good decisions from previous games; controlled rolling to reduce fall damage, medic distances after being downed, no grenade indicator, corner auto lean, squad mate preview before you spawn on them, taking ammo from support players' backs (semi controversial) added back in auto regening vehicle health and unlimited ammo (on the fence with the ammo portion)

With the addition of specialists and anyone being able to take ammo or health crates coupled with what I'm just hoping is this map and the way people are playing the beta, teamplay moments are absolutely lower frequency than previous games unless you're in a Discord. This is always true for this series but goddamn it feels like it's at an all time low

Yeah, same, also I only saw one AI in my several hours of play, and joined several matches in progress fine, I think someone said that didn't happen, but it definitely does. The UI is a mess as is always the case, but also the UI always changes from beta to release, though that doesn't mean better.

I don't like the specialist thing though, I wish they just used classes.

The AA launcher is loving useless. Even on what should be an easy and direct shot, it loving misses without helicopters deploying chaff or barely moving at all. Sometimes the thing will just drop lock for no reason at all.

Yeah, I definitely shoot (and die) a lot in this. The only lulls are when your team has taken over an objective and the next untaken one is far away. But usually when that happens the other team will attempt to attack the one you just capped so you can sit tight for like 30 seconds and you'll be shooting again. Or just call a vehicle. Or take one of the civilian ones that are at almost all the objectives.

Last round I played I would get the locking sound but the indicators weren't there, so I had to go by sound. Not that the thing is of any use anyway. Same as every BF, the littlebirds are way tougher than they should be.

Well no poo poo, there's no squads, comm rose, voice or text chat yet. If they manage to release it without that stuff then there's a lot more wrong with the game than just team play.
