Really don't get this whole class silhouette complaint.

In practice you shoot the dude before they shoot you, never have I cared what class the dude is especially not when squad revives make the difference between medic and other classes even less immediately important.

Like if you're playing to your classes strengths it's irrelevant what class the guy you're shooting is.

Specialists make teamwork harder with randos, but if you're playing with friends you can cook up some interesting combos and its really neat. I've always liked the sandbox elements of BF so I think its cool.

Also I literally dont notice what people look like when I'm shooting at them? Not sure why one of the biggest complaints is that everyone looks the same, something that will be somewhat better later anyways. Theres a lot of valid criticism but that one makes me raise an eyebrow.

Honestly I think it's less "what class is the other guy" and more like "what team is the other guy"

and no, I don't think the green dot is good enough. (Plus, do you even get those green dots on Hardcore servers? I'm assuming that's gonna be a thing)

"should I shoot that guy" is the first and most vital question that a player needs to be able to answer. If there's not an immediate and clear answer to this, your visual design has failed

I think people are more complaining about classes in the "I no longer know what the hell my squad needs" sense. Which makes sense, if all your people are playing grappling man you don't actually know what type of guns or gagets they're running.

I dunno. While I'd certainly prefer faction specific characters or skins I've gotten pretty good (for me) at identifying friend from foe based off the IFF markers in game. There's still a little over a month until the game drops for real and I really want to believe that dice and whoever else are more competent than making a team shooter where all player models are the same.

Anyway it looks like this game was a major rewrite of the engine (though maybe not, if the screenshot above indicates anything), so it make sense that a lot of stuff is missing. That being said I think they could have really figured out what to bring over with a good UX lead but time will tell I guess.

Vehicle/infantry regen is fine since it's so slow that dedicated regen items are useful. There's a huge difference winning a gunfight then medding back up vs waiting for the molasses regen. Same w/ tank and repairing it.

I think the traditional class system always sucked in battlefield and it's cool you can have anti-vehicle/anti-air hate without being forced into a gimped gun or w/e. Destroying faction identity and having 128 clones run around does gently caress with the tone and atmosphere of the game though lol

After 3 solid hours of playing today, ground vehicles feel great, air vehicle controls are a mess, infantry movement feels weird and the gunplay...I don't even know. I'm killing people, landing shots, but it just doesn't feel like the feedback, weightiness, punch I don't know what to call it is lacking. Maybe it's the sound being so flat but my metric of a good Battlefield game is exiting the game and immediately having the itch to jump back on, this doesn't trigger that.

Still way too few tanks, only one per team on this map means the odds of you ever getting to use one in a given game is near nonexistent given both team sizes(32 for us last gen players, 64 for you PC and next gen players) and how long a Tank can usually last in these games if the driver is even the slightest bit competent, not helped by the vehicle selection system being as buggy as pretty much every Battlefield game since they decided to let people spawn in vehicles instead of having to just walk up to them on the field like in the older games(really wish they'd just go back to that system instead)

Overall just a frustrating experience for someone like me who gets like 95% of their enjoyment out of driving tanks and other armed ground vehicles in this franchise

Honestly the gunplay has always been the weakest aspect of this franchise, or at least ever since I first started playing(Bad Company 1)

One really annoying thing is I keep getting put into high ping games. Either I'm put into an Aus server which is about 170 ping for me, playable but janky, or it's a 250+ ping server which is completely unplayable. Occasionally I can get into a 60ms more local to my region server but I'd say it's 1 in every 7 or 8 tries, sometimes more. Still, playing at 170 ping has been surprisingly okay, I can still even win some gun fights.

You can set the headshot and hit marker sounds to BF1 apparently. Can't do it in the beta but the option description is in place.

It's unfortunate for you there's no score menu and classes in 2042, so you'll have to find another minority of players to get upset over when your team loses.

Refunded as well, it's pretty disappointing that all the decisions in this game are bad. Battlefield was never really just about respawning asap to shoot more dudes, there's plenty of other shooters that do that better. So all the strengths I like battlefield for just feel muted or done worse in this iteration. I'm really disappointed.

Are there really only two tanks per team? On a map that’s apparently about 4 times bigger than Narvik from BF5? That seems really small.

Do vehicles just take up more and more memory as the games go on or something. It seems like every game has fewer of everything Battlefield is known for.

Every map in every battlefield has a different number of vehicles. Honestly I think the number of vehicles on this map is great. More tanks would completely change the dynamic. I am sure other maps like El Alamein will have a shitload of tanks. This map does have a fuckload of air and it's a lot of fun to sit in the AA vehicle on a hill near the big building. Once you get the timing down you can be very deadly against the helis.

Grapple any moving object and you realize how buggy and bad it actually is. For instance if you grapple a helicopter it zips you to where it was when you connected the grapple and doesn't actually attach you to the helicopter itself

Game good?

It's divisive.

Objectively speaking, the beta is janky. Clicking to spawn a vehicle often fails (you just don't spawn at all and have to try repeatedly until it works), jets you watch in flight randomly juke around like a plastic bag in a whirlwind / like someone playing CS 1.6 with a 500 ping (good loving luck following an opponent you're trying to dogfight), a lot of basic features are missing (text chat, voice chat, looking at the map, zooming the minimap), using a passenger turret on a vehicle is jittery as gently caress and basically impossible to aim, etc. People are generally giving it the benefit of the doubt because it's a beta, but IMO the technical side is a bit concerning.

On the opinion side there's a lot of variance, but a few common ones:
- "It's a big fun messy shooter and I like that"
- "It's missing a lot of features I enjoyed from BF1 / BFV"
- "The game doesn't incentivize teamplay as well as previous entries"
- "The Operator + Loadout system is [good / bad]" because it means everyone can kinda do everything rather than having strict class strengths and weaknesses

Right now my personal opinion is what we've played is solidly worse than BF1 (my favorite), but it's not done yet and I'm willing to be hopeful since I like Battlefield games generally. With lots of polish it'll be good.

Holy poo poo. I finally got in with a good VTOL pilot and crew. For one the jumping around when in vehicle gunner seats isn't happening much at all for me anymore so that helps. But if you have a VTOL pilot that knows his poo poo, how to fly smooth, etc that thing is a loving death machine. This pilot was going from flag to flag and hovering low enough we could capture it and he was smooth enough that myself, the other chaingunner, and the 40mm grenade gunner just deleted anybody who showed their face. Tons of kills and most objective points I've gotten so far.

This is going to be the thing to play with goons. One good goon pilot and a crew and you own the map.

For some reason I have an immensely more difficult time shooting people in this than in BF5. I think it's something specific to me, since my friend is doing fine.

I think it stems from enemies being far more difficult to see. Don't know if this is some sort of colorblind thing or what, but I have to devote like 95% of my mental attention towards scanning for enemies that all blend into the surrounding grass/trees (it's a little easier if they're against concrete, but even then there's still something about the visuals that makes them appear less distinctly). I rarely had this issue in BF5, but it's just incredibly hard for me to see people in this. I keep losing track of things while straining my eyes trying to search for enemies (and almost always lose in any given engagement unless there's a lot of stuff going on and enemies don't notice me).

I think I've gotten like 80% of my kills from being in a helicopter, with only like 1-3 kills with a gun each game.

I had two goons and a random pubbie gunning for me while i flew the super hind. the transports are hilarious. We killed multiple littlebirds and attack helos that tried to go toe to toe with us. Random pubbies kept spawning in so I'd hover over and cap points. At one point I took a direct hit from a carl g and it only did like 20 or 25% damage.
