I can't fly these aircraft for poo poo, I remember binding spacebar to pitch up among other things in earlier titles. Anybody got a recommended list of control settings?

Can you view the map while you're in game? I couldn't figure out how on the PS5. I could only see it when choosing spawn location.

I'm eager to see what the solution is to everyone being the same group of specialists. If a player is in your peripheral vision at range you can't readily tell if it's friend or foe based on model silhouette, color/style of uniform and have to take a split second to either turn to see if they light up blue/red or glance at the minimap.

the map is so big and frontlines never really form... it wasn't played much but something like chain link in bf4 would be nice to concentrate the fighting over 1 or 2 objectives.

So, despite the problems, I just had a round that gave a glimpse into the cool stuff. I noticed that the rocket was getting ready to take off, so I just hung near it with the littlebird and fired rockets and miniguns. Two minutes later and that poo poo exploded BIG, which i'm sure could be seen from across the map. Awesome. Then the weather changed and it got stormy, and then I saw my first in-game hurricane. The scale is quite impressive, and the weather effects as you go nearer to it are great. I decided to run into it to see what happens. My guy got pulled up and swirled VERY high up until I eventually got free. I followed it around on my parachute and watched it make its way onto the main fighting area, with all the trucks and debris getting pulled in. The battle pretty much stopped and everyone was running and jumping into the tornado, having gunfights high in the sky, tumbling in a barely visible megastorm. That stuff was really cool. But yes, there is no 'team' feel. No medics, ammo guys, frontlines or anything. But, then again this is conquest on a large open map, so perhaps on more focused areas and gametypes we'll se a bit more of the 'old' battlefield. henpod fucked around with this message at 15:02 on Oct 8, 2021 |

The amount of graphics glitches and stuttering made my just quit playing after a few minutes last night. Hopefully they fix this jank up, but god drat this poo poo is hosed. This is like pre-alpha levels of polish.

Arnt they only giving us 2 modes? Everything else is portal? Will the ranking/unlocks system work in portal or is it going to be the equivalent of 'unofficial servers'.

If you double click fire really fast with the infantry rocket launcher it looks like you shoot 2 rockets sometimes

There's a large contingent of goons that just hate every piece of media always. TV/IV and the Movie forum are especially bad about it. This game is cool and good. And yeah there is some jank, but calling this pre-alpha levels of polish is hyperbolic nonsense.

it's so drat nice having the helicopters back, im right back to my old sky god pop and drop tricks. also with the increase player count it's easier to do insanely funny landings right in front of groups of advancing players. nobody can pass up a ride in a helicopter that cuts off a huge swathe of players moving off of a newly captured point. Also I've seen some pretty awesome ground advances, like 20+ players charging across the field towards the rocket, felt cool as hell when there are less noobs and more people playing objectives, the player count is really going to shine i think. I do hope they dont forget to include a 16v16 reduced size map like they did in bf4 though oh and that assembly building rooftop.. oh man... it's the perfect bait for snipers to await my rocket barrage. ethanol fucked around with this message at 15:16 on Oct 8, 2021 |

Bad Company 2 was good because it was on a smaller scale. Thats it. It's easier to make a tighter & better designed game on the scale of BC2 and they did just that. Despite conquest and big maps being the selling points, the BF series has always been at its best when it's confined to a more moderate scale with medium sized teams. But here we are many iterations later and they still won't admit it.

I ended up refunding as I don't think I can deal with the menus anymore and am not paying $90 for this to play on the 12th. I may still buy on release depending on how Portal works out. I also just do not like how directionless it is. It's just people running randomly to points and no way as far as I can tell as an SL to direct your squad like other BF games. No one heals, no one drops ammo, barely any revives, pretty disappointing.

I've refunded because pre-ordering a digital game is dumb and I only did it for the early beta access. I'll pick it up if the chat from the early access days (November 11-19th i think?) give a good impression of improvements. And much like Bad Company 2, they work better with their lower player counts; Frontlines with 32 players and Operations being better with 40 than 64. Conquest is an amazingly fun sandbox mode but sometimes you want more focus. Glad Breakthrough is coming back for 2042

But in the future you just throw the whole thing away and pull a whole other 5 foot long, 33lb launcher system out of your rear end.
