Yes. Those are not them those are literally the BF3 classes. You might notice that there are significantly more than ten of them they use the class icons from BF3 and they are quite literally the exact same portraits from BF3.

So yeah maybe check your own water supply.

The 10 specialists have mostly been data mined already, they aren't BF3, BC2, and 1942 classes.

Anybody know what the key binding is for flares in BF4 using an xbox controller on PC in helis? I can't figure it out. The two missile options are left and right on the dpad but down on dpad does not launch the flares.

I only used an Xbox Controller once or twice for helicopters before going back to M/KB but I think LB? One of the shoulder buttons for sure if my memory is right

Still desperate for some modern day BF so I'm playing BF4 right now.

Coming for a full weekend of 2042, BF4 is a real mixed bag:
-Guns sound and feel horrible
-Vehicles feel more solid and weighty
-UI markers for who has ammo and health etc way better.

So for me to be happy at least at launch would be make fix the UI team stuff and make the vehicles not feel like they're filled with helium and that'll be the bare minimum.

Hopefully, with Battlefield Portal will be able to fix the game but using all the customization DICE has given us?

My takeaway from the beta was that I got a little too wrapped up in a killer marketing campaign. That's not to say I have lost interest in the game at all, but it went from something I was dying to play to something I am thoroughly waiting for reviews and player impressions on, and might even not buy or wait for a sale. They just said all of the right things and cut some of the best trailers I have ever seen, but then I play it and it's just the same Battlefield but super buggy. I'm not sure I even think a lot of the additions like the bigger player count are actually good. Felt pretty overwhelming at times.

Still had a decent amount of fun with the beta despite it's bugginess, but Dice is going to have to resell me on why this one is going to be special now lol. Still a decent chance I'll get it at launch unless it's a disaster, cause I am not buying COD this year and am in way more of a BF mood lately.

Also still very curious to see if Hazard Zone is going to be worthwhile because I like those kinds of modes.

Hot take,

If the Squad developers just used this game engine, they'd make a perfect battlefield game.

Literally everything else is new and good. There's this huge focus on this one change. Yea it's messing with a core aspect but the game is still fun regardless.

I mean Squad came from Project Reality, a BF2 mod which is still played to this day. But EA won't license out any of the Battlefield engines, Frostbite or Refractor, so they had to use Unreal. But yes, even for all the bugginess, there's just something about DICE's engines that cannot be recreated in other engines.

I'm curious if they'll be able to fix the way planes look when flying (ones manned by other players). As is, they teleport everywhere constantly in ways that looks really goofy. Like they'll just randomly appear to drift around or stop.

Batigh posted:

Osprey and Hind seem to be the buggiest of the vehicles so far. No stuttering like tanks and AA that I've noticed, thankfully, but I've seen lots of crewmen kind of phase out of the hull in seated positions.

Someone has probably pointed this out already, but my friend and I figured out that the weird stuttering when manning a vehicle gun is caused by the driver moving around their turret. If the tank doesn't move their cannon, it doesn't stutter (though of course in practice they will be so this information isn't particularly useful).

Not just planes but all air vehicles were teleporting around from time to time in that beta (usually when you were trying to lock on to them).

If I had to guess, in order to optimize for 128 players and the largest maps ever they changed it so that the further away vehicles are from you, the fewer positional updates are sent, but they didn't take into account just how fast air vehicles travel and you add a bunch of bugs and rubberbanding into the mix and voila.

After playing both 1 and 5 I can confidently state that 1 is the better game. 5 has a lot of cool ideas, but you can tell it was being pulled in a thousand directions. Also, its server infrastructure is trash! NO AUTOBALANCE. NO TEAM SHUFFLE. NO AUTOBAN. It's ridiculous! The 1 official servers have all that stuff, and I've played 1 for a day and have about a 70% winrate while I've played 5 for... 3, I think? I spent 4 hours with my buddies yesterday. I've never won once. Not. Once. I have no idea how that's so.

Most that I watch like Jackfrags, Stoddeh, Westie, and Silk sounded cautiously optimistic. Had fun with the beta but acknowledge it's buggy and there are things missing. General vibe seemed to be UI and vehicles need fixing. Shooting felt good. Specialists may or may not work out.

I hope they put out another beta or at least some gameplay video of improvements in early November. They're probably looking at the survey data and figuring out what they need to address.

Re-doing the whole class system at this point seems... impossible. I don't see core gunplay changing either. Granted, most people seem to have enjoyed it.

Considering how much Jack and Westie have tried to brightside and give DICE and EA the benefit of the doubt in the past, them being only cautiously optimistic says a lot

Thats my take away as well. The specialist thing may end up not mattering as much and the other maps may be better but its not day one anymore. Its definitely a gamepass play for me and maybe a buy around the new year if its in a good place but day one or preorder is a hard no.
