My favorite is "You're bi? Guess you're transphobic! You like men and women, BUT WHAT ABOUT TRANS PEOPLE?!" as if a trans woman or trans man is some freaky third option. :ironicat:
It's always telling, it means they don't actually think trans women are women or trans men are men.

And while we're bi-griping, as a non-binary bi I hate it when people smugly are like "well bisexuality excludes non-binary people!!" Like, no, the term was invented before most people using it knew that non-binary identities were a thing. The "two" in the modern usage is self/other, i.e., I'm into my gender and other genders. Pansexuality just means gender is a secondary factor in attraction for you, it isn't some ~more enlightened~ sexual orientation.

Yes self/other was how I saw it described in a helpful way. I can use whatever communicates the idea but bi is what I started with so it's what I default to.

Eh, BTK is pretty infamous, but his case didn't have the "glamour" of like, Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, or Jeffrey Dahmer...until that Stephen King movie came out in 2014, and even that wasn't very popular.

If you have any interest in true crime (much less are an obsessed loser like me), it seems kinda hard to believe someone hasn't really heard of BTK. But I've definitely met folks who had no idea who he was, but HAVE heard of the others I mentioned. Maybe because he went dormant for a while?

BTK is the one who told the police "I want to send you a letter, can you trace a floppy disk if one is sent to you? No lying!" and got caught when they lied and said they could not.

BTK essentially got away with his crimes initially too. Then he went dark for a decade, then resumed sending letters to police, who tracked him down pretty quickly at that point.

:yeah: This is the main way my partner remembers which one is BTK; he doesn't have a lot of interest in true crime, but he used to work with computers so that bit of stupidity really stuck with him.

As usual, these "Pornhub displays which search terms are used the most in which state" maps are unsourced, so take 'em with a grain of salt. Still, worth a chuckle.
