You think you can take me at Satan's Hollow? Go 'head on!
Not bad, got a $10 off coupon from Shout Factory because there was a delay with the Halloween UHDs. Watched the new Halloween 3 remaster tonight, just used my $10 coupon to get Night of the Comet for $3.

Guess I could've gotten Night of the Creeps for more Tom Atkins, oh well.

I'm sorry if I'm spoiling everybody's good time.

Holy cats, I really enjoyed The Devil’s Candy. It’s been a while since I felt so tense on account of a movie. It’s exactly as long as it needs to be at 80 minutes, and has a banging soundtrack punctuated by For Whom the Bell Tolls over the credits. Caution to anyone with children…I have none and still felt very chilled by some of the setpieces. Also kudos to the artists behind the paintings!

I haven't seen the movie but if its similar to the book the tail end of Cujo has a sinking, hopeless feeling.

Talked to a semi-famous local comedian and actor about playing the lead role in my monster of the week show and he is interested and asked for the script and treatments we have ready.

So if this gets picked up it will be helmed by a good actor , assuming that he still is interested after reading the actual script.

This is extremely cool, please keep updating us as things develop!

The film specifically changes the ending because is so drat depressing and King (who was heavily involved because he was feeling burned by Kubrick) agreed with it because he said it was the most hated ending he had written based on fan response. Of course he's written a lot since then...

Regardless Cujo is a brutal film.

CRAYON posted:

Hmm, I remember watching this during a scream stream and maybe the impact was ruined (enhanced? augmented?) by that viewing experience.

Gerald's Game is pretty intense and harrowing at least until the super bad finish, but yeah, I'm guessing it wouldn't be a good group watch. Its methodical and both King and Flanagan routinely bring out a derisive reaction.

Catching up on things I haven't seen but should have and watched Phenomena and holy poo poo I can't think of another film that has a final 30 minutes with such surprises that they feel almost random but then when you think on it more you're like "on the contrary that was all set up exquisetly", it's such a hard balance to pull off.

Trick r Treat, although it’s kinda bloody. But the bloodiest scene is a monster kill.

^ I think you're forgetting the kid with the candy and the subsequent Jack O'Lantern carving. I mean the tone of the movie is Are You Afraid of the Dark? with nudity, but it's still pretty gross out at times.

I mean if they can handle a LIL bit of gore, I feel like Scream has been a really good baby's first non-violent movie
House on Haunted Hill (OG) is always a treat
A Quiet Place has little on screen violence
The Others is a pure mood piece as a I remember
Whale's Universal work (Frankenstein, Bride, and Invisible Man) are all a hoot
Blair Witch Project has no on screen violence

Do they have a problem with older movies? If not then I think you can't go wrong with either Horror of Dracula or Curse of Frankenstein for something tame with spooky vibes.

Alternatively I watched Little Shop of Horrors (the 80's one) for the first time this year and that's a delightful movie.

One Cut of the Dead if you don't mind subtitles.

They don’t care when it was made, it’s more the graphic depictions of murder and stuff that’s triggering. Stuff like Saw and beyond are out. Got some good suggestions so far, thank you.

This is just more of a curiosity question than anything. There is one scene in poltergeist where the guy rips his face off or like The Ring when you see bloated corpses. Are we talking no murder porn like Saw, Slasher gore like Halloween, ect.?

Also, A Quiet Place would be a good non-violent scary movie.

It’s more the explicit stuff like Saw and harder, and the depiction of suffering and trauma. So movies like Poltergeist would be fine. Gremlins would probably be perfect. And we watched Chopping Mall and it was a lot of fun, I hadn’t seen it in years.
