Huh. I wonder how they do the tracking without the rings? Just really good image-based tracking?

The Walrus posted:Sounds like you prefer head oriented movement. A lot of people do, specifically for things like ROR2 which are fast paced. But in my opinion, if you're able to negotiate the need to orient the stick differently as you move your hand, hand-oriented is better. Only way you can run one way and look/shoot another which for me is a bit part of what makes VR shooters more immersive/realistic No, I definitely prefer controller-oriented, and that's what I'm used to. As I said, hand-by-my-side-pointing-down works fine in some games, and not fine in others. It just feels dumb when I'm not using my left hand to also have to angle it. In combat I usually have it up steadying my right hand, so that's not an issue, but just walking around I usually just have it by my side, relaxed. My best guess is that different games have different ideas of where "up" is on the controller, and that for Payday 2/Compound/Alyx/gzdoomvr/SkyrimVR it's more correct, and for the games it doesn't work "up" is tilted more down.

I've been watching 3D movies lately on my Quest 2 and I'm having trouble getting them to play without hitches/frame rate issues when trying to stream from my computer using either the Quest USB cable or Air Link. If I copy them directly to the Quest's internal memory they play perfectly. I just have the 64 GB model so I have to load them separately. I thought I read somewhere that Virtual Desktop is able to transfer at a higher rate than Air Link but I don't have it to test.

Are there notable non-porn 3d movies out there that are worth looking up? I did some googling to find 3D stuff to watch when they updated virtual desktop and came up with some short nature vids and stuff like that but I have no idea how to find 3D videos that are worth watching that can be obtained legally.

I know Big Screen Beta has 3D movies. Some for free, some free with ads, some for rent. And a 3D trailers room, and a lot of the time you can join public rooms where people are streaming 3D movies. It’s also free and has nice environments if you just want to sit and watch your own stuff.

Hyperlynx posted:Do you happen to know which option? I spent a fair bit of time poring over them but couldn't work it out Controller forward/slide root is what it is called in H3VR, I think. Basically, forward is determined by either the position of your controller or the direction you are looking. In almost every game, including Zero Caliber, you can change it from controller-based to head-based. In Jet Island, it makes sense because you are moving around with jets on your wrists, but nearly every other game gets the ol head-based toggle from me.

I was able to draw the boundry, but it took a while and the quest 2 was lagging and stuttering drawing it. I did get it eventually done to the correct size for the game, but it took a while. If there was a way to just get the headset to lay down a 10 foot square or something it would have been much easier. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10RkCBlQPOA That said, it's a great game and very fun.

I gathered from your last couple of posts, primarily the one mentioning Zero Caliber, that your controls were set to controller-based, but you wanted headset-based. I didn't realize you wanted controller-based, but were having issues. It read to me like your character was moving the wrong direction because the wrong movement type was selected. My mistake. Controller-based movement confuses the hell out of me, so I can't offer any other relevant advice. Bloodplay it again fucked around with this message at 07:32 on Oct 25, 2021 |

I think the main reason I switched to it is because looking around while moving forward feels more natural to me. In real life, if I turn my head to my left while walking forward it doesn't cause me to start also walking left.

There's no way for me to chat on a Discord voice channel while playing on my Quest 2, is there? Short of me being in the same room as my PC which is connected to it, I mean. I know how to stream it so my friends can watch me, but it kinda sucks that I can't chat back until I wrap up and head back to the computer.

Turin Turambar posted:Any comment on The Invisible Hours, the 2017 theater play-videogame? I really liked this - there's absolute near zero "interactivity", you just float like a ghost and things just happen around you while you watch, but the fun is in deciding what to watch, and the way you naturally find huge twists just by following people around and watching where they go and who they talk to was a really great experience - and because everything is happening simultaneously you need to use the time jumps to go back and follow different people to see different events that you only heard about / heard at a distance. They pack a surprisingly dense number of mad twists and turns into it. I played it on psvr early in my vr days so I don't know how many transport options it has, but it's a real cool concept and I wish there were more games that played with the same idea of like "walk around a big complex stage play as it's just going on its own".

I finally got back into Blade and Sorcery after that last big update, and it's looking a lot more stable and a lot closer to a real game. But every time I swing at an enemy my weapon just falls out of my hand when I hit them. I'm on an Index so I thought maybe I just wasn't gripping hard enough, but it only happens when I strike an enemy. If anything the grip is too sensitive. It's basically impossible to throw because the slightest finger bend registers as me gripping the weapon.

Hmmm, trying to use the oculus tray too to check on performance and it seems to act odd. When I launch a game it will only report 60fps. Very occasionally it will show the 120fps then alternate between 60 and 120. Is this normal? Got a 3070 so should be good for most games, it seems smooth as silk playing. Nothing show on line. Not using ASW or anything odd, just using it for FPS.
