yeah entire thing is nodes. window is a shader

can you post a screenshot? you can use an index or id input node as the seed input but I'm not sure if that's what you want

also, it looks fantastic! that material work is great

this is the problem distilled down to the simplest form i can think of.

what i want to do is have a random number of subdivisons per instance of that icosphere

ah yeah i don't think there's a way to change stuff like that in instances of a mesh. maybe that'll be added later. could do a subdivision surface but it won't be regular at that point

Could you instance empties on the points and then use the empty-instances to make spheres with random properties?

this might be where i stop for black

galaxy is one big volume shader, black hole is a couple spheres instanced with geometry nodes. background is a shader as well

thanks, maybe you know this, is there any way to increase the density of a voronoi texture in certain spots?

you mean the scale? you could always plug in another texture or a mask into the scale input

ended up using ray casting to get the particle instances in the right spot, and i used the classic "vase builder" with a float curve for the base

looks pretty cool. next step if you had time would probably be randomizing the particles a bit?

yeah mine was pretty basic too, plates and chopsticks are insanely simple, the key is having a few other entries ready to throw in to make it look higher effort

https://giant.gfycat.com/ScalyGiganticImpala.mp4

the real new thing for me today was figuring out the transfer attribute node in order to fill up the cup with tea

basically transferred the position vector of the cup to a set position on a cylinder inside it

whole node tree for the cup & plate were almost exactly the same with different parameters:

managed to actually finish in time, trying to do a circuit board with a pollen on it, got the microscope-style shading almost right but the circuit traces look a bit glitchy

VVV thanks! the shader lightens faces pointing away from camera and looks good on most of the image but some of the trace sides facing towards camera have a light band halfway up and i can't figure out how to fix it

starting to feel burned out a bit but ive done every prompt so far and the finish line is in sight so im gonna keep on going until the end
