In the 2018 animated adaptation of the Christmas classic The Grinch the eponymous Grinch must sojourn to Whoville in order to restock his home with food and supplies to get him through the upcoming holiday season as he had stress eaten what he had already purchased beforehand. While navigating the cheer-filled streets of jolly celebrating Whos that the Grinch does his best to avoid or scare off any attempts to share the good natured spirit of the town's festivities. That is, until, he is found by The Carolers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiPY5_H9EIw The Grinch is then pursued until cornered by what can only be described as an extremely aggressive holiday-themed streetgang. Which is not all that shocking, every major metropolitan hub has it's share of crime both organized and non. But what is surprising is their choice of song with which to sing while hunting the Grinch (presumably to consume his flesh on Christmas Day); God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman. This song SPECIFICALLY references that Christmas is the celebration of Jesus Christ the son of God and King of Kings who died on the cross. The Whos are no longer simply people celebrating the good hearted spirit of generosity and love for no reason other than a shared sense of love and community among the Whos. Now it is an exaltation of the birth of God made flesh, wholly Divine and wholly Who. This has further theological implications, namely that the Whos are all tainted by sin, sin that can only be payed for by blood. Ancient Whos tortured and crucified one of their own and this inglorious death was for the purpose of substitutionary sacrifice to wipe away the sins of Whokind, leaving all those that accept his baptism tabula rasa in the eyes of the Lord. Anyway, I guess my point is that this definitely means the Grinch is going to hell for never accepting Christ as his savior.

If the Grinch had merely never received the Word of the Lord, perhaps his soul could still be saved. However, he has made a conscious decision to turn away from God, so at the moment of death he will be separated from Him forever.

Ray Bradbury wrote a short story called "The Man" about an astronaut pursuing Christ from planet to planet, only to learn he'd just missed Him. Perhaps Christ shrank himself down to the size of a speck of dust and visited the Who world on the clover on the end of Horton's nose.

Much like the Bottle City of Kandor kept in Superman's fortress the Whos were forced to be shrunken down and kept in a mixture city. It can therefore only be assumed that The Grinch takes place before whatever catastrophe led to their eventual miniaturization
