Just remembered that some MRI emergency shutoff switches will just vent a huge amount of helium outside.

There's a whole section of MRI snuff films in the deeper parts of YouTube. Turns out quenching the magnet and venting a shitload of coolant is part of the decommissioning process. Someone always films it, because it really is quite dramatic to witness, and how often do you get to watch a half million dollar piece of equipment die? Sometimes they explode!

These sort of racers can have up to 4 levers in the cockpit. Traditional shifter, Brake Bias, Front Anti-Roll Bar, and Rear Anti-Roll Bar.

Peak load for a clothoid loop on a rollercoaster is about 4g and this is a circular loop meaning the peak is almost assuredly much higher because the car has no upstop wheels so unlike a rollercoaster, it will lose contract with the track if the positive g's at the top are lower than 1. Looking up the stats for centrigugal railways, the victorian ancestors of rollercoasters, the peak g load for a circular loop and no upstops was 12g. So about the same as the car's suspension being weighted down with an entire dump truck.

e: There's also some more math to do with the length of the vehicle's wheelbase vs the diameter of the loop that I'm not enough of a physics expert to explain properly but longer wheelbase = more g forces.

Victory and Laurel Canyon, I live 5 minutes from there. Fun fact, that intersection and block close by gets used a lot for filming, usually car chases and car crashes so this is perfect.

Here's the intersection: https://www.google.com/maps/@34.1866996,-118.3964224,120m/data=!3m1!1e3
The location of the car chase from Pineapple Express: https://www.google.com/maps/@34.1854769,-118.398646,120m/data=!3m1!1e3
One of the abandoned stores that was repurposed as a Blockbuster in Captain Marvel, and in front of the storefront on Laurel Canyon they shot a scene from Nightstalker: https://www.google.com/maps/@34.1853175,-118.3967562,120m/data=!3m1!1e3

Also, just slightly north on Laurel Canyon is the Bank of America where the infamous North Hollywood Shootout happened: https://www.google.com/maps/@34.1913812,-118.396041,120m/data=!3m1!1e3

The empty lot where Pineapple Express was filmed used to be a hotspot for car meets for assholes with annoyingly loud cars. The police had to constantly break it up until they relocated. Lastly on that corner is a Burlington Coat Factory where this week a cop killed a suspect and one of his bullets flew through a wall into a fitting room killing the 14 year old in it: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/14-year-old-girl-killed-by-lapd-in-store-shooting-is-identified/ar-AAS7Gjy?ocid=uxbndlbing

This is insane. It's interesting to watch the driver jerk the steering wheel to the right to stay in the loop. I recall the Jackass movie where they built a loop for skating/BMX, and one of the first guys to ride it (may have been Tony Hawk) said that yeah, you basically have to turn right in order to ride it out, despite all of your instincts telling you otherwise.

Why on earth right? He's in the right-hand lane and merging leftwards (even accounting for inversion etc), yet clearly he's pulling the wheel clockwise and right on tack. I can't figure it out for the life of me.

My guess would be that since the track is tilting to the left, the car will naturally drift in that direction and you need to apply right wheel to maintain centerline. But I'm definitely interested to hear from anyone better informed.

The forces pulling the car left are so great he has to counteract it by steering hard right. It's kind of like drifting, where enter a point in the drift where you need to point your wheels in the opposite direction of the way you want to go to maintain a proper line.
