I'm having the kids wat h Gremlins now that it's back on HBO Max. The 3 year old is loving it. Man, as a kid I never realized how amazingly fun the cinematography was. Lots of shadows, funky colors, shadows, angles. It's a loving feast. E: I mean, the use of reds and greens alone, subverting the holiday colors as shorthand for Creepy poo poo Happening! It's a fantastic movie. My daughter loved it from about 3 as well. It defined her love for all things scary. And then, at 7, some switch has flipped and she hates scary stuff. We had a good run at least.

The Card Counter is very good and Oscar Isaac is fantastic. The film stands or falls by his performance and he delivers. Petite Maman is still my favourite though. I thought The Souvenir Pt II was self-indulgent. (I liked the first one).

Doubling down on my incorrect argument would take up valuable posts that could be used for talking about how awesome Rebecca Hall is! Did anybody else watch Transcendence? What a boring stupid piece of trash. Johnny Depp sucks. But give Rebecca Hall credit, she tried her best in that movie because she is a trooper.

I think I'm going to make a concerted effort to rebuild my attention span. Starting with watching increasingly long movies without looking at my phone or playing Fortnite on my Switch at the same time.

Whenever I really want to focus on a movie I make sure my phone is across the room or something. Becomes less appealing to check my phone when I have to walk across the room to grab it.

I’m interested in trying out watching movies in VR, no ability to check my phone, plus a nice big screen!

As long as I’m not in a cyclic depression and actually feel like watching a movie, I haven’t had an attention span issue in years. I used to be unable to watch an episode of King of the Hill without pausing to look at my phone about 10 years ago.HUNDU THE BEAST GOD posted:This would be the second time, they tried once but I believe both guys had very young kids then and it just wasn't happening. Yeah, that was Streampunk. You tipped me off to that, and I really liked it while it ran. I hope this version stays around longer. I believe both are possible. I’ve seen virtual cinema screens in VR but also you could just like open Netflix or whatever with a PSVR on or something like that

Rebecca Hall and Judy Greer are in the same boat of actors who I really, really like but who are mostly just doing great work in bad roles, and often in bad movies.
