they aren't in use in the US because the NHTSA didn't accept the european testing results back in like 2013. so now there are cars driving around with all the cool software stuff turned off and blinding drivers with their projectors

this is nuts imo but if it avoids the current "every fucker drivers with full beams on 24/7and blows my eyes out constantly" I'm all for it

I get migraines and every time some jerk is behind me and goes over a bump I get a blast of light reflected off the rear view mirror straight into my eyes that gives me a blind spot and I think "oh crap here we go"
