Would it be possible to mod in stations that consume resources and like, generate money to pay people supplying them resources, (possibly only in npc hands) but don't produce anything to fake a "civilian economy" existing?

Doesnt that exist in terran space with the orbital command station or whatever it is in earth sector?

It used to be in X3 that stations had "secondary resources" which would be consumed but did not need to be there to actually produce the stuff the station used. In X4 that is sort of covered by food/meds, but it would be nice to have more things like that.

It's fun comparing the populations of stations in sectors to the planets under them. Space is basically just controlled by small navies, pirate legions, or contractors and your corporation. There are barely any civilians (even counting habitats)

It is a bit odd yes, especially as there doesn't seem to be much of a ground/space combat capability with the piddly weapon ranges everyone uses. Kind of leaning into the space libertarian hellscape where everyone actually lives quite happily on planets and it's just the insane hypercapitalist weirdos getting into fights with each other.

If I teleport to my HQ to check it out, I can't even get to the L fab, it doesn't show up in the transport list. e: Ugh ffs I didn't actually have the blueprints to fully build an L ship. I remember a quest the Terrans gave me to build a production station for them. A dock, a production facility, and some storage. SOME storage for finished products. Nothing for raw materials. I gave them exactly what they ordered and last I knew that station was still sitting there, doing nothing at all.

I have now built like three dozen "Deluxe" military stations of the cheapest dock, a M container, and 10 turrets. The galaxy can not get enough of these huge pieces of poo poo. I think Holy Trinity has three next to each other. The joke of it aside it's weird how every single station building mission, for all factions, or random one-offs, want this singular type. The only one that hasn't been this was a random computronic station the Terrans wanted in the Oort cloud. I also realized that I don't need to give a poo poo about building a fleet to take the Xenon sectors for the Yaki, my HQ has seven hundred turrets and four hundred shield generators, as well as six hundred defense drones (lol). I'm just going to jump it on top of Savage Spur and work my way out lmao. I'm making GBS threads out advanced electronics to be able to make multiple jumps. It took a while but I finally got into the endgame . It was my fault though, I focused too much on station building but not actually doing anything with them. Since 4.10 these pay out depending on how much you invested up to a max so min maxing them no longer is the best route. Add a storage and something that produces stuff to get a new market to sell to.

If I remember correctly, the CUB (Court of Curbs) aren't at war with the Argons/Antigone Republic while ZYA are. At the same time, not helping ZYA usually allows the Xenon free reign in the northern sectors (and in my game, the Xenon almost wiped ZYA out).

As far as I can tell the "most chaos" option is to back CUB in their rebellion but stop short of pushing them to the point of actually dominating FRF/ZYA, basically walking into a civil war and saying "you know what this civil war needs? more factions involved" There's a CUB quest that literally has a description in part of "if you complete this, CUB demand for materials may drop off as the conflict resolves", I assume there's nothing past that quest-wise

I assumed what would happen is that FRF is fully replaced with CUB, which is in active war with ZYA (as opposed to FRF, which isn't, so their sectors are just a bunch of stations taking potshots lol). I think they'd need less materials because they'd gain all the stations again - for now they only control two sectors with the rest still FRF, and ZYA untouched by them (though the Argon frontier sectors have had enough and are taking advantage of the Xenon loving them up). It seems like a problem that will resolve itself as the Xenon eat Zyarth lmao. I'm still not actually at war with them, though I can't dock at their stations so some distant station building Terran missions up there are a pain in the rear end. Thinking about it it's weird how there are no opportunities to join the Argon/Split war. I guess technically they're not though it's repeatedly described as the Split raiding the Argon for slaves?

I forget if there was a fleet delivery in there somewhere) after paying them 400 million-- CUB is elevated to the point of having a proper/respectable in-game presence fleet-wise, the next quest is delivering a bunch of missile/weapon components to CUB with the stated outcome of "Reward: Imperial Coup" and "This will end the Split Civil War and allow the remaining split factions to recover, after which their demand for resources could stagnate" which seems pretty...definitively non-chaotic to me RBA Starblade posted:Thinking about it it's weird how there are no opportunities to join the Argon/Split war. 1 billion dollars and 10,000 units of space fuel and some crystals I've never seen or heard of before to finish the Paranid plot, eh game Well what's some drugs to go with this corporate hellscape e: Oh my god stop loving asking for spacefly caviar Well Zyarth is losing their core sectors (the Argon are taking the opportunity to take Zyarth's Dominion X), the Xenon are swarming the Curb ones, the TRI are ascendent, and the Terrans have infinity ships and don't want to budge because of my choices so lmao, oops Well there goes Zhin too. I think the Curbs win by defacto unless I get that 800 mil soon. Doesn't help that Zyarth's regions by default are kind of awful e: I can't even make a dent in their sectors, fifty Katanas died in less than a minute OOS to one defense station (literally undefended lmao, I'll go back with destroyers I guess) and the ones around the Yaki have infinite fighters and a legion of Ks and Is. That's not even counting the ones that are conquering the Split factions and ruining the Teladi Company's shareholder reports I can now make endless Osakas out of my Saturn shipyard, so I can finally start to fight back against these swarms RBA Starblade fucked around with this message at 14:46 on Jan 15, 2022 |

Sounds like someone hosed up with the settings in a patch. Plot ships are flagged as "impossible" for Boarding and won't let you even attempt it normally. That said for later missions they spawn a new one anyways. You can test this by letting a cheap ship dock to it. It will explode when that Terraforming plot gets triggered.

Savage Spur II is mine! I thought it had one defense station and some fighters, it actually had two and a partially built third one with a destroyer escort lmao. I went in with twelve osakas, five made it out, because the moron captains kept ramming Station 2 or just not firing back, at all costs. Luckily I can pump out Osakas at will from my Saturn Shipyard, but losing my Syn was a heavy blow (had to hop in manually to stop a K from flanking us, between the station and it the shields buckled). I have two defense stations, fifty laser towers, the carrier fleet remnants, and new Osaka squads patrolling to make sure there are no incursions, but I don't think they're bothering sending destroyers through Savage Spur 1. I am not looking forward to sending anything through that nightmare sector where shields don't exist. I might just drop the HQ there if I could ever get the advanced electronics reserves up to snuff. I also swooped in and poached the easternmost sector from the Xenon (and Curbs) after their fight wiped both sides out. The Curbs didn't build the admin station in time lol Meanwhile, the Teladi are about to get rear end-blasted again by an I and 5 Ks (lol), Zyarth is down to three sectors and one wharf, the Paranids in the Northwest are about to not be there anymore, and the Curbs have Xenon stations all over their perimeter sectors. The Antigone Republic and Terrans have endless armadas they don't feel like doing anything with and the Paranids in the south are unstoppable, but the Split and Teladi are hosed. The Argon seem to just not matter; I never really noticed before how few sectors they really have. That civil war really hosed the upper part of the universe over lmao RBA Starblade fucked around with this message at 00:04 on Jan 17, 2022 |

Hey, just wondering - is there an option somewhere to limit the amount of storage space a certain ware is permitted to take up, in a station's inventory? Since I have a trade station with a solar panel on it. I occasionally transfer large quantities of hull parts to it from my main factory complex elsewhere, for resale. However as the solar panel often generates more than it sells, it might get to the point where the energy cells are taking up too much room, and I'm not able to fit many hull parts into the station storage. So yeah, am I able to limit how much storage space the energy cells take up? So that for example, it'll stop producing energy cells once the storage module is 20% full, so that it'll leave 80% for hull parts.
