woke up to a text from my brother saying that dad is on a bender and talking about killing himself. I don't particularly like or dislike him but he hasn't really been present in my life for more than a decade and every time he reintroduces himself it's just to pile poo poo on me. he already tried to kill himself once so I guess I'm trying to find a nice way to say "if being alive is such a terrible and constant burden then maybe he should just do it and get it over with" but that's not really a nice thing to say. maybe GBS can provide some input. hope you're all having a good friday.

this seems like a problem that will resolve itself. the dad has been checked out of your life and his own life for many years, and you don't seem to care one way or the other. "get therapy" isn't applicable since you've moved on. my advice: continue to do nothing, text back "ok", and take this e/n poo poo to e/n and don't harsh on my FRIDAY VIBES

My dad only stopped drinking because he developed a pancreatic disorder that would kill him if he resumed it I recommend therapy but at this point he's a grown adult whom you've rarely had contact with so if this is his wish so be it. A wasted life but you got your own to deal with. No need to be pulled into his bullshit yet again
