I know it's been out a while already, but I finally got Butterfly 3000 in physical media and am feeling good about it.

For anyone not familiar, this is a pretty modern song of theirs you might enjoy:

Any other fans out there? What other similar music scenes should I be paying attention to?

I'm sure this isn't news to you but their albums vary quite a bit so if one isn't for you there may be twenty more that are

lol that's fair. I'd say take it at your own pace. I hate having poo poo forced onto me.

That's a mild concern of mine which is why I'm trying to find other groups who scratch that familial itch. For a min I thought Psychedelic Porn Crumpets might be that. While I do really enjoy them I can't say that they're doing as interesting of sound.

Not really related but Parquet Courts were fun but a bit simple.

Extremely depends on what you're into. Their big microtonal album is Flying Microtonal Banana but their metal album in Murder the Universe, for example. The acoustic album is Paper Mâché Dream Balloon. I think Nonagon Infinity is probably their most popular?

I've heard a bunch of their stuff via friends and saw them at a music festival once but they're not something I regularly listen to. I've been meaning to give them some time but there's so much music out there and the rate at which king gizzard release music is kind of intimidating. like I need time to process what I'm listening to and there's a lot of other bands out there slow it down you lizard wizard

I really like Flying Microtonal Banana.

More songs should use weird notes, so they are a good band.

I keep buying records but nothing of theirs since Rats’ Nest has clicked with me.

My 338-346th King Gizzard records just arrived, two of each Levitation variant.

Most of those are Polygondwanaland variants.

They are cool and good.

I've only seen them once in Central Park in 2019 but hope to see them again soon. Still have tickets for a show on Philly that kept getting pushed back.

My favorite album is either Infest the rats nest, or polygondwanaland. But honestly each album hits different depending on your mood.

Bands with two good drummers are always good.

Also see The Melvins when Big Business was part of the band.

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets intrigued me at first as well. It's nice fast guitar rock, which I love, but it's kind of one-dimensional.

The only other bands that have kind of scratched that itch for me are Altın Gün, Amyl and the Sniffers, and Crumb, but even then, none got me hooked like KG did.

They're real good OP

Just don't feel obliged to listen to everything they've done, that way lies madness for all but the most devoted Lizard Wizards

Maybe read one of those wanky albums ranked worst to best lists that are all over the internet and then - ignoring their dumb poo poo rankings - pick the one that sounds most interesting to you

Be seeing you.
Yeah, agree that they have a decent range, especially for such a prolific band, so you're going to get a lot of different experiences.

It turns out I'm only big on the I'm In Your Mind Fuzz and Nonagon Infinity thing that they do, and that's a minority of their work sadly.

I haven't listened to a single measure of their music but man do I respect the hustle. putting out 1 album and 1 EP was such a long and grueling process that i can't imagine doing it more or less constantly.
