thinking about those tiny cd roms with the sides cut off youd get for drivers and at trade shows. what was the point of that garbage anyway. this is a thread for when you remember thing about computer

when i was like 13 my dad installed some type of lock-and-key switch on the phone jack for the internet line out in the garage, so he could turn off the internet before he went to bed. otherwise i would stay up until 5 am. i would get off the computer and go to bed when i heard him waking up for work.

remembering constantly tearing up the family packard bell just so I could mess around with the poo poo inside and my exacerbated father giving up yelling at me about it so he bought his own compaq presario pc just for him to use but he kept coming home to find that I had torn that pc up just so I could mess around with the poo poo inside.

Pirate Adventure on the TI-99/4A. also: blasto, car wars, and talking mad poo poo on jawbreaker 2 indiana jones and the curse of atlantis demo x-wing TIE fighter posting on a forum for keeping rats and guinea pigs and stuff internet roleplaying a jedi or wtfever on a forum for the star wars ccg where roleplayers had just taken over and decipher was like "ok guys cool, have fun" playing one of those cgi-form based browser games for virtual cockfighting. my chicken had laser spurs and armor and his own coop and stuff

Playing tunes using the 386 computer speaker with QBasic and writing cool color visualizations for them with the different video modes. Programing my Casio PB-300 with the awesome manual programs it came with. A whole 4kb of battery-backed up SRAM!
