PA has the largest number of bridges about to fall apart in the country (though i think it's more that this state just has a million pissant bridges over every tiny creek). Every time we get a really big rain around here one of the major non-interstate bridges has to be close or pushed back into position

Pittsburgh has a zillion bridges so if they start collapsing because it's impossible to keep up with the maintenance that seems like it might be a problem (although I guess because there are so many it would theoretically be easy to route around them so they could just close half of them and make the traffic completely insane).

It's possible to keep up with the maintenance, we'd just rather give a trillion dollars to Raytheon every year

they did add an additional guard rail after a student fell off one of the other nearby bridges and died and then another woman jumped off and killed herself both within a week or so while i was there tho, so that’s progress

Why in the gently caress would you design a cluster software product to just plonk the cluster interconnect magic networking on the device where the default route points, instead of using the install parameter that seems to be there for exactly that purpose? cloudthink has ruined an entire generation of architects. its like they dont even know how routing works anymore because the cloud just magics a vxlan that spans availability zones and nats everything to the internet. sure, you can set two default gateways too, why the gently caress not? set twelve or whatever the gently caress go for it. im going to play video games for the rest of the day

remember when my property managers purposely didn't cut the grass for a whole summer, took pics of it, gave those pics to a 'blight specialist' they paid $5000 to, cut the grass the next day, and then went to the city with the photos saying "this block is a dump, you should tear it down and get federal blight relief money to the property owners" lmao

The clue about the cause is in the stacktrace of the exception, if you can believe that. Told him to check that months ago but I guess he just didn't loving do it. Dude's got a weird defiance thing going on where if you tell him the way to do something he'll try to do something else first no matter what, sends himself on wild goose chases and winds up wasting a lot of time.
