updated win 10 yesterday. it showed me a full-screen prompt to upgrade to 11. when I said no, it presented me with another full-screen prompt asking me “are you suuuuuuuuuuure?” kinda desperate, tbh

we've got a hybrid exchange setup because management doesn't want to pay for full azure AD. also i think we've got a few legacy systems rattling around that wouldn't be able to authenticate with ms365. but mostly the cost thing.

HappyHippo posted:upgraded to 11. they removed the "never combine taskbar buttons" option? gently caress this poo poo. my taskbar is 99% empty and the two windows open are combined. they also made it so that the taskbar context menu only appears if you right-click the start button when previously it would appear if you right-click anywhere on the taskbar. i'm super used to launching task manager by right-clicking the taskbar so it's driving me crazy. that ofc is a minor nuisance and the worst part(s) of the win11 UI is the removal of full-screen start and its replacement with this bullshit:  there's no way to disable or hide that "Recommended" section so it is just foreverially wasted space. previously i've always used full-screen start as it's the best loving way to do poo poo. pin your primary apps to the taskbar and pin your secondary apps to the start menu where they appear as big buttons that you can launch with winkey+click button. now instead you've got a 6x3 grid of medium sized icons along with a bunch of dumb wasted space it's so stupid
