The biggest online scene for Alpha and 3S is on Fightcade PC worldwide, including America. System requirements are very low, if you have a windows PC in 2022 chances are it will run Fightcade. I'm not sure about console numbers but 30th anniversary is really dead on PC because of this. I also remember there being issues with 30th versions of those games not being 100% arcade accurate but those issues are most likely only visible to the top 1% of players I think there are cool art pieces to unlock in 30th though?

I seem to remember 30th plopping you into the same stage over and over again because of how it loads a state on the character screen every time you rematch. I don’t remember if or how this can be circumvented or if it applies to online play, but I remember it being a problem for local play. Also yeah it’s super dead online.

Thank you! I'm moving away from Windows to Mac but a quick look at the Fightcade site shows it works on Mac as well which is great, so that seems like a much better way to play those games. A quick Google search says that Darkstalkers works on Fightcade as well which is an awesome surprise, as well thousands of other games it seems, so it'll be interesting to see if any old MAME favorites work on there or not, especially since Fightcade has a much nicer UI. Glad I've passed on the 30th Collection. Would be frustrated buying Alpha 3 & Third Strike again only to have all those issues and no playerbase, which is something that has me concerned about the Darkstalkers Collection too since I have no issues buying it again considering it seems to be gauging interest in a new Darkstalkers game, but if it will have similar issues I'd regret getting it.

Leroy was introduced in 7 which is only like 2 years after T3, and it wasn't in a story capacity so they can just stay he came back from Hong Kong in T3 since they never specified a date and that lets him participate in that year's king of iron fist tourney. Darkstalkers (VSAV2) even has a ranked scene on fightcade, my handsome merman made it to B-rank in his prime edit: the newest games to just come out only a few months ago on Fightcade are Capcom vs. SNK 2 and Marvel vs. Capcom 2, CVS2 has a gigantic scene all day and there's always a handful of crazy marvel 2 guys (like me) in the lobby as well

I feel like the best way for Bridget to appear in a new Guilty Gear is secretly. Have him finally reach a point of personal and bodily independence that he can make and own decisions about his presentation, and he does so to such a degree that we only piece together that it's Bridget a few months in.

Yeah the in story explanation is Bridget's village has a superstition about having two kids of the same sex, so his parents secretly raised him as a girl which doesn't bother him. But that's just the meta story justification for a really feminine dude because it was the 2000s, and as a character Bridget's just a guy who's comfortably feminine. The only jokes I remember about Bridget's gender identity are at Johnny's expense, not Bridget's. This is not the idle pose of a weak beta male terrified to wear a habit.

yes there's a lot of lore justification built into the fairly stock concept of ' "actually male" frequently mistaken for female' in bridget's whole deal, but it's still that stock concept. going 'well, bridget still wears a nun outfit, but now also is big and muscly' is just trading one stereotype for a different one (one that i got real tired about with the general fg community response to Ladiva) i'm fine w/ the character deciding to present masculine but i'd also just prefer it if the devs leaned into the 'bridget is most comfortable presenting feminine' detail and made the character nb or trans? either's an improvement

Oh yeah don't make Bridget super muscular, but honestly I'd prefer it if they just stick with Bridget as a dude who confidently wears skirts and poo poo. The story felt like it was borne out of a need justify something that didn't need it.

Redo Bridget but with King or Elizabeth's suit (because suit = manly, just look at Slayer), still keeping the Nun habit and dumb handcuffs, along with the Yo Yo trick bullshit. Still play the 'guy who wants to be manly but still follows feminine due to tradition/preference' but give them an update to reflect their growth as a character and confidence in their ability as a bounty hunter since Vastedge. Or just go all-in on the Nun outfit but everyone knows who they are so there's no surprise. "Yeah, that's just Bridget. You missed out on the whole 'Universal Will' thing. bridget choosing to id as male and being femme is absolutely fine + what i wanted was mainly in the face of how lovely people have been about that and the character historically, especially since the core of the character was still 'forced to be this way since birth' and not 'is actively choosing to identify this way'
