ha I can do something tutorial-level with Unity

that would actually be a good skill to pick up since I have doubts about making a game in React Native (the only mobile language I know)

I make my pieces as javascript and python webapps, so another library is easy to add onto D3 and React

Here's a song and visualization thing I did a lil while ago. I had just started learning drums so it's a slop fest.
I output all of the tracks separately so I could load em into Mandelbulber linked to different parameters.
It was a set-and-forget thing so the sync isn't that great. I think I recorded and rendered the whole thing in like 4 days.
Also I can't remember if I already posted this.

This stuff is all incredible but it's not my cup of tea. I like using abstract 2D shapes with a highly interactive UI, possibly at game-level. But, I don't step out of my comfort zone nearly enough, so I'm open to anything (preferably 2D)

i’ve been listening to some death metal a bit lately specifically undeath and it took a bit of time to adjust to the low tunings and riffs, for me to actually discern any articulation at all. but now I can and it rules.

much like that fuckin axe right there

the interesting thing is that a lot of the 'djent' / super low tuned bands are going back to single coil pickups and less gain, because when you're dealing with 31 hz guitar notes, you need a bit more articulation and a bit less humbucker chug

ive got gibson ripoff humbuckers in my Bass VI clone right now and am thinking of switching them out as the current ones are kind of sludgy for P94's - basically P90 single coils in humbucker form factor. I put one in the neck pickup of my telecaster and it sounds so loving good

sup jackson 7 dinky buddy

I need to dress up the fret ends a bit because they're pretty sharp but it's a neat guitar. sounds great into the mark v though I'm kiiiinda considering grabbing a recto in the near future for maximum crunch

the stock pickups aren't bad but I might throw a crunch lab 7 into the bridge so it matches my JP a bit more closely tonally

I was reading a seymour duncan website and it categorised pickups like invaders like I’ve got as “old school metal like korn” :wtf: and gave the impression that pickups designed in the last 10 years or so as a new breed in terms of capturing articulation or whatever

idk lol. i’m content tuning my 6 string down a step but if I ever play with anyone else that might have to change

its fuckin amazing for $200 usd though? like in '96 i woulda killed somebody for the deal i got on this

and yeah i am thinking i'm gonna go nazgul/sentient meme pickups in it because whats better than a $200 guitar with $200 of pickups lol

Does anyone here use Renoise at all?
If so, what for (like, just fucky beats, whole tunes)?
I get into it for like, an afternoon then shelve it for a couple months until its weird allure calls to me again in hex

Maybe I should use it for its own project, but I'm scared the Winstons will have me arrested for flagrant Amen abuse cos that's how it always ends up

i use it once in a while, a bit like you i guess. i have yet to ever finish a track in it. song structure and moving stuff around is a PITA (to me) in a tracker workflow, especially since i’m so used to regular DAWs.

For me it's like Blender really where I'll have a phase and learn a bunch of stuff and commit it to short term memory but then drop it for a few months and when I come back its normally a little while to reremember.
Its actually not dissimilar to how I use Maschine I guess, great idea pad but ffffuck sequencing a whole tune in it. I'll record anything cool to timeline in Cubase.

I have a Kawai MP11SE digital piano (nice unit in a portable form factor but heavy feel compared to a Roland or Yammy) that I run via USB out into a MacBook running Native Instruments Komplete so I can make funny burp and fart sounds for my kids. I'd like to add a few more USB instruments but I'm going to run out of USB ports on the Mac in a hurry, are USB hubs for driving VSTs an option here in 2022? The last time I tried something like this was back in the USB2 days and it was catastrophe.

i don't see why that wouldn't work. not like hubs are expensive anyway, get one and give it a try. definitely get one that has a power plug on it as a lot of devices are powered off the usb itself, which may have been your problem before.

I’m gonna try some actual tracker stuff with this big bitch, but I kinda want to try a modern one too

btw if anyone knows Amigas pls help because I know nothing

Jim Silly-Balls posted:

OK Amigaknowers, help me out here, because I've never seen any of this stuff before.

On the front, we have two floppies, and a syquest drive, which i had completely forgotten was even a thing that existed. I really hope it works, because I have a weird thing for ancient and strange media. Also the Syquest is labeled "Games 2" which is promising

Around back we have a metric ton of BNC connectors, what looks like a big SCSI port, and I'm assuming otherwise normal Amiga stuff. Also what looks like some sort of spill. Chicken soup? Mountain Dew? Whatever it is, its rock hard

Looking inside, we see, a LOT of hard drives, two mounted on things called Trumpcards :chaostrump: and one on what I am assuming is the CPU card? Its the thing with the big SCSI looking connector on the back. And a big mess of ribbon cables

On the side we see, a Video Toaster 4000. I really dont know much about these, other than hearing about them as a youngin with my Pentium-75 Gateway and how they were good for video work

There are two other cards next to the :trumppop: cards and I cant really tell what they are. One has RCA connections on the back, and the other has BNC

Closer shot of the CPU(?) card

The motherboard is a rev 6.4, which I've come to understand is something that matters in the Amiga world?
