i don't believe for a second that a significant number of facebook's qualified candidate pool has a moral aversion to working for facebook, i think there's just a particularly acute lack of programmer supply (for whatever reason. you'd think remote work would alleviate that instead of exacerbating it). the price for doing evil is, i dunno, probably an extra $30k/yr per employee. turns out that doing evil is really loving profitable and more than offsets that premium.
