mostly. the tricky thing was one ankle was obviously a bad sprain, got black and blue but turned out to be a minor fracture. just needed an air cast. the other one was misdiagnosed as lesser, moderate sprain. had to use that as my good leg while in the air cast, even though it hurt.

two weeks later i got a second opinion as it was still hurting and. nondisplaced spiral fracture to the tibula near the tibfib joint.

turns out that would have required surgery if it displaced and it may have if it hadn't been caught. apparently it's commonly missed because it's not a weightbearing area so people with some level of pain tolerance tend to not realize it's broken

so, that one still feels sore now and again and will probably get osteoarthritis (or more than it currently has). i can still run (short bursts, never could run laps) and climb stairs but some days it feels like a sneak preview of being very old. advil works for now though

kind of you to ask. anyway don't break one ankle and don't try to even it out if you do

my partner gets serious neck pain issues maybe every two weeks, and has for years . it’s utterly bogus and seems like there’s gently caress all that can be done. she doesn’t have the confidence to get a nerve block injected at the base of her skull and tbh i don’t blame her

I need to buy a new neck pillow, these memory foam shits I got from IKEA only lasted about four months and now they don't provide enough support for my hydrocephalic deformed head

also learned that as you get older, you do NOT jump out of bed or get up too fast. well if you don't want to collapse in a heap of agony as soon as your feet touch the floor you don't

it's sad, I used to be able to snap my fingers and jump bolt upright getting out of bed, if I do it now it's like I hit a brick wall as I will either get attacked by leg cramps or pull a chest muscle

leg cramps used to bother me a lot even when I run / power walk and stay hydrated and do that stretchy poo poo I made fun of my brothers for doing

it really sucks when they wake you up at night and you have to wait for them to go away, it leads to loss of REM sleep

finally stopped it after taking a cocktail of glucosamine, magnesium, and vitamin D3 in the middle of the day, not night

i’ve been buying these since herniated a disc in my neck more than 10 years ago and they’ve been pretty good all things considered. they definitely last longer than 4 months. the last one i ordered was in fall 2020 and i probably won’t need to replace it for another year or two.

just stopping by to say if you get any kind of joint pain you’ll probably benefit by an omega 3 supplement like fish oil

I’ve often recommended people take it at dinner but never heard middle of the day

I do strength excercises with one of those big rubber bands tied to a door handle every day to keep what little range of motion I still have in my busted-rear end frozen shoulder.

Physio guy says it will go away in a year or so, but drat it sucks right now.

After my case of plantar fasciitis, I tried coasting but the pain wouldn't go fully away until I wore the splint EVERY night, did the wall / toes up exercises, rolled the spiky ball on my arch for 15 mins. a day, AND went up every drat staircase using only my toes to contact.. it took me four months to not wince in pain getting up in the AM

Sports doc told me you gotta work for everything, muscle death means muscle life blah blah blah

As for the magnesium, I find that I have to take it midday / morning for it to be effective, if I take it around dinnertime / right before Zzz, nope no good wakey wakey at 4 am with the feeling someone is using a rusty chainsaw on my leg tendons

could be because of other organ failures though, it's different for everybody I'd imagine based on how many systems you have breaking down
