i do agree that licorice and anise should be at the top of the list. I know anise is in pho, and pho is good, but that's a huge anomaly.

When I was a kid I would sometimes do some really strange things with food, trying to create custom sandwiches and such with weird combinations of spreads. One thing that seems like it'd be disgusting but I liked at the time (though I don't want to revisit it) was strawberry jam and boiled egg, not the yolkjust the whites, sometimes I would take out the yolk and put strawberry jam inside the boiled egg. It really sounds disgusting I don't want to get back to that one, thoguh as a kid I liked it. However there was one thing I tried, the taste of which has basically haunted me forever and at the time ruined my entire day as it tasted so foul and stayed around for so long. I put apple slices together with liver paté spread. Just absolutely horrendous taste, just awful, awful, awful. And I really like both of those by themselvbes. But that was just the worst thing I had ever tasted and I still sort of remember it to this day.
