This was referencing the gas station that used to be a Texaco several years prior, but was a Total or something at the time. You would also yell this at the taxis along with the price you were willing to pay as they slowed down by you and if their other passengers were headed to that area they would tell you to get in or briefly haggle over the price. In the village I lived in you could just say to the moto taxi "take me home" because everyone knew where the foreigner lived.
