The concept of disarming the American public is so profoundly ridiculous on its face that I have a tough time viewing it any other way. Given that's the reality of the situation I see no reason to chip away at the edges rather that face the truth that the problem is our diseased culture. Maybe some see it as worth the effort to make our mass shootings slightly more inconvenient for the shooter but personally I feel if the end goal isn't solving the problem then perhaps the effort would be better placed elsewhere.

And to add, if the government and political reality we have right now is so hostile to poor and working people then it sounds like they should be arming themselves and we should support every effort to that effect. They certainly have no compunctions about militarizing the police who would oppress us, we should not support any measure to disarm us or even reduce our access to weapons, full stop. Like I said it's just crazy to me that anyone who self-identifies as left would think that we need less access to weapons, it's literally a revolutionary philosophy. We are always the first to be persecuted.
