Yeah, the dlc just adds new regions and diseases specific to those regions that don't appear in any of the base game areas. I'm fairly certain none of the gameplay features they've added over the years that impact everything (like copying and pasting room layouts) is tied to anything you have to pay for.

Cool beans. So getting all of it and throwing it into a sandbox game isn't really that interesting (compared to the campaign), or what?

It'll be more interesting in the sense that it'll add in more diseases to handle, which will then mean you need to potentially think more about how you use your space and what to prioritise. It's not worth thinking about until you're done with the main campaign though.

the additional DLC stuff is just more stuff, and the base game has enough stuff anyway. chances are you won't make it through the base game, there is a fair amount of content there. but if you do make it through the base game content, you may as well pick whichever DLC you find interesting if you want to play more two point hospital

things like, the base game has a water fountain. if you get the hippie DLC, then there is a rainwater fountain which is pretty much the same thing, or not different enough to alter gameplay significantly

Well to the surprise of everyone the devs aren't done with Two Point Hospital DLC yet. Introducing Speedy Recovery https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PK40O63jPJo

Standard 3 new hospitals, but surprisingly a new gameplay aspect. As always 10% off early pre-purchase and it comes out March 15th.

i might give it a go but i'm expecting it to be two point hospital with a paint job.

i played a decent amount of this but something about the fact every character model was the same with different hair and their dead black eyes creeped me out. it's like when a puppets on a kid show cross over into nightmare territory.

It's pretty interesting in that you were focused on treating as many patients as possible as quickly as possible, here you are "saddled" with your students for 3 years.

I noticed that an important share of my revenue was level up bonus payments, which declined with time because it takes the students longer and longer to reach the next level. When the next academic year starts, you get a new batch of students depending on your course setup, and retain the others who now start year two. I haven't played long enough on each map to reach the stage where the students cycle (year 3 students graduate, new year 1 students begin). I wonder if there's a bonus payment for graduating students.

Anyway, it's quite interesting so far. But I have a bug, for the life of me I can't assign the A button to anything, meaning the default WASD camera movement is out. And since my middle mouse button is also defect, this impacts the gaming quality a bit.

Yeah the format is actually significantly different to TPH, the process here is you start a school year and alternate between class months and off months, so your focus is on making sure you do as much as you can in those off months to not have students distracted by tiredness/hunger etc when they go in for the next class. The room level and other general stuff like litter is still there but from the early going it does feel like you're in a less pressurised enviroment and you're not fighting endless fires. I have no doubt this'll change.

E: There's also much less need to put benches literally loving everywhere, since most people on site are expected to be doing something, staff are either working or in the staff room, students are either in class, studying somewhere else or loving about in the dorms and lounge.

E2: Lost track of time, should've gone to bed half an hour ago, eyes kinda sore, game good.

Just finished 3 starring the first campus through Game Pass and the game seems pretty fun. Seems like easier gameplay than TPH but it's too early to tell how the difficulty will ramp up.

Also my game likes to randomly crash to desktop occasionally without any errors. But that could just be the Xbox app doing Xbox app things... :sigh:

It probably is, I played for 3 hours with no crashes at all. I expect the struggles over time will be timetable management as you get more and more courses running and need to keep track of more and more events.

i rushed after one star and the difficulty definitely ramps up - the first map showers you with money and gives you a free mood buff for all your students/staff, additionally the first map has a lot of the mechanics (clubs, events, etc) turned off for tutorial mode

Is it common practice to 1 star and then move on? I think that's all I ever did in the 5 or so hospitals I did in the last one. What I found in that game is that you pretty much just do exactly what they tell you to do. Does that change?

Should I branch out course offerings? On the robot one I just kept upgrading that single course which then just requires more rooms of it.

I'm doing the same as Hospital, 1-star everything and go back for more stars later once I know what I'm doing and how to actually optimise things so the star chase isn't a grind. It's clear that you can really go nuts with your syllabus though, the second campus has 7 additional buildings. Also note you have the option of buying land without buildings, so you can just build multiple buildings however you want on a single plot once you know roughly how much space you need for a thing.

In this game specifically, to unlock sandbox mode you need to earn one star in campus 5, so one starring all the maps is the fastest way to get there if you care about sandbox mode.

I think you should branch out. Upgrading your courses gives you 5 new students, while branching out gives you 10. For most map goals to now it seem you do need to upgrade the map's main course to earn stars two and three, but more students = more money (I think), so branching out is probably the right decision in regards to profits.

More students = more money but adding a course is also way more expensive with new rooms, staff and probably a new building as well. I think you want to upgrade early then start adding courses once that first course is a stable money printer.

When you reach Mitten you can start researching new courses and the first one I unlocked was called "General Knowledge". It's a 1 year course that only needs lecture rooms to teach so it's a neat money earner with minimal cost to build out.

Upgrading once doesn't increase your teaching room needs, so you might be right about this. But the second course upgrade needs a new room anyway, at which point it might be better to go with a new course entirely.

I love the release period of these games where the meta hasn't been figured out yet.

It does increase for some courses, Robotics 2 required a second construction lab and lecture hall, at least it did for me.

The culinary course in campus two only required a second kitchen after upgrading the course twice, so it's apparently different between the courses.

Played the first two campuses; I think some of the extra rooms needed was due to simply attracting more students rather than progressing the course level, on the second one. Looking at the schedule, it looked like some year 1 subjects were being run simultaneously more than once.

Remember that for 3 year courses you can have up to 3 times your course intake once you're up and running and later years may require more lab time or different labs.

It seems like upgrading to Windows 11 fixed the game crashes I was having as I just 3 starred the second level without any problems (after having 10-15 crashes in the first level).

Also fixed the MS Store and Xbox apps that were completely glitched, so that's a plus. :shobon:

The very first level has the instructor telling you that one bed for five students is normal, or something like that.

Is there any reason to have multiple small rooms instead of just one big one (other than meeting number-of-room requirements for courses)? The "room quality" measure seems to just be "how much stuff is in this room", and obviously you can fit more things in a bigger room...

You can make a lot of small rooms rather than large ones but you need someone to staff each of them, the per-room capacity decreases, and you will have trouble finding floor space to get the prestige of the room up. But other than that it's largely a balancing act, since gigantic rooms also tend to not be efficient due to max class sizes.

I must have missed that one.

My game (PC/Game Pass) has a weird bug where about a third of the time the tutorial messages display for a fraction of a second and then disappear. I thought maybe I was accidentally clicking through them, but this last time it happened when I didn't have my hands on the keyboard or mouse.
