doom 3 was so maligned and it sucks. like yes it was Too Dark at times and it feels kinda slow, but the plot was fantastic and i wish we'd gotten a movie out of it (i'm ignoring the recent film adaptation)

I meant doom64 (the real doom 3) which is free on the epic fedorastore, but your point stands

I’ll just say it all comes together in the end. almost everyone who finishes outer wilds figures it all out into a coherent narrative and there are no glaring loose ends

I never figured out Why the nomai died but i never made it all the way through the comet to get the answer and just looked it up after the end

Been playing Back 4 Blood with some buddies, really fun take on the Left 4 Dead formula. Do not get the intensely mixed reception, there are definitely some issues here and there but it's a lot of fun. Granted apparently there were some pretty major changes to the formula recently so that might be part of it.

goddamn I love outer wilds. it's fun to see what directions people go and the conclusions they reach, so do keep posting :allears:

played a bunch today on and off but i'm running out of places to explore and not really making any significant progress or gaining any significant understanding. if i have to go to the loving Sunless City one more time i'm going to uninstall this game that place is just the absolute worst

as a meta question: what is it that the dlc actually adds? because it's going to be a long protracted dead end pretty much by nature of being a dlc so i'd rather avoid it. i'm assuming it's the comet since it has its own quadrant in the rumor map but otherwise there are absolutely no references to it anywhere unlike every other celestial body in this game. also i can't get in so w/e

the only thing i discovered pretty much all day was when i had the random idea to use the signalscope in Dark Bramble and found Feldspar and the third escape pod that way (and thereby found out how to reach the probe monitoring station), but I cannot actually reach The Vessel since it's in the red node and you just immediately get eaten if you move even one meter into it. knowing that the anglerfish are supposedly blind does nothing for me because they immediately home in on my thruster noises or whatever. hmm actually maybe if i get out of the ship and line things up just right so that i ballistically coast in without making any noise ... but nah i'd probably bump against an anglerfish and instantly get eaten.

it adds to the narrative of the base game in a way that is thematically appropriate and makes a surprising amount of sense given that the base game is constructed as a consistent self-contained story with few loose ends, and there are multiple new gameplay mechanics

upon entering a new area of dark bramble, you have some (normalized upon entry, actually) amount of momentum that will get you past them if youre patient

the DLC is also great and you should play it once you've figured everything out but before you do the thing you do

actually getting into the DLC is very obtuse, though, they did a very good job of retconning how there could be possibly be something unnoticed in a solar system you have very thoroughly explored

a plan i made up literally while writing that post

oh hey that worked.

fake edit: WELP. that got heavy real quick.

so all i have left to do is find a big-rear end hourglass warp core somewhere instead of those little piddly square ones. then escort it into the vessel (really? that seems awkward) and then key in the three-symbol co-ordinates i found in the tracking station into the targeting pillar (really, the rumor log gives away that that's what it is? well whatever, i figured that out already after playing with it for a few minutes) and then engage and i guess that's the game end condition. still a lot of questions though, about ATP and other such things. but i vaguely recall something about a powerful warp core being forged as part of ATP so perhaps i'll pick up a few details along the way. if only i knew how to get into ash twin!

I see the SAINTS ROW reboot launches next week - as an EPIC Games Store exclusive. Fucks sake.

lol early YouTube reviews are in; not only a buggy mess - which can be fixed with some effort and dev goodwill - but also somehow not very much fun, which is a much harder fix.

Maybe by the time it hits Steam in 6mo / a year it will be fixed up, polished up and at a decent discount.
