The son tries to make him stay, and is sad that his father has to move to the city... which is less than an hour's travel by boat away. It's a mullet. And then someone who was a big one for me growing up, the guy who was my first idol: Robert "Robban" Broberg (who passed away in 2015). He did many humorous songs, and many songs about women (and the two categories very frequently overlapped), not shying away from going risqué—for example, he has one song where he plays a German salesman trying to sell the listener a blow-up doll. He also had a period in the seventies where he did some more tonally serious music and towards the end of the decade almost quit music, but made a comeback in the eighties and kept going for essentially the rest of his life, his final live show and album happening in 2011. He made songs in both Swedish and English, and was also the host for a children's TV program in 1970. i got given a swedish rap cdr mix ages ago and for a long time that was my total exposure to swedish rap. that just d song was on it, weirdly. or not so weirdly? was that a huge hit? did swedes really want their own beastie boys? (the other stuff on the disc was like a lot of petter and latin kings and early timbuktu, to give you an idea of the era)

I remember it was pretty big when it came out, I wasn't very old then, 12 maybe and it was one of those tunes that got stuck. I still sometimes find those lyrics bubbling into my head at 40+ (var tog den söta lilla flickan vägen...) just coming and going like a drive by.

Vörjeans (pronounced virgins) are a fake band by actual band KAJ. Their pretend story is they're from Vörå and they wear jeans, hence VörJeans. Any similarity to another word was accidental and the band members does not realize this, except occasionally and they just suppress it hard. They're a riff on the "ragger" subculture which is rockabilly, denim, booze and american cars.
