I read the book maybe 20 years ago, being a record collector myself it seemed interesting. I remember being pissed that the dork didn't buy the box of rare punk singles for pennies because of some fart huffing nonsense in his head. Also the way he described the sex scene felt really limp and awkward. Overall well written but I hated everyone in it.

Even when I was an early twenty-something and saw the film, I could only takeaway from Cusack’s character that “you fail at relationships because you’re an insufferable and uninteresting rear end in a top hat, and you probably smell like old musty record covers.”
