Just had that sinking feeling that I'm pretty sure I signed onto the Goonfund Patreon a couple of years ago, after a friend got helped out by it, and I was thinking "what the hell, I can throw a few bucks at this" I should probably check that!

hey guys you know how this is the website where the owner asked the userbase for thousands of dollars in donations every month and then it turned out he was pocketing like 90% of the money. well i'm starting a fund to help out other members of the community so if you all could please just give me thousands of dollars a month in donations to do that

I'm glad there are people who needed help and got it, but at this point in the forums history are we not all part of some lesser clique/discord already? Like if you really need help you can ask your inner circle of friends for some help. I don't think having a GoonFund is in the best interest of anyone involved except the person running it

If the argument against allowing any inquiry or transparency, and that when plinkey loses their poo poo over simple requests for info, is that they are running it at a loss, putting their own money up when they have too, and simply reporting all the patreon money as income and paying taxes on it, there are two options 1- The goon fund is being run by a person so stupendously poor with money management it needs to be shut down for their own sake 2- There's a minimum amount of sketchy poo poo going on that were anyone to shine a light on it it doesn't go well for the fund or the person in question This fund is taking in more then most people make in a year.
