I gave up on listening to newly-released Metal a good long time back (though I still do nostalgia revisits) but I just tried out AGE OF APOCALYPSE from the Stereogum 2022 Best New Bands' list https://www.stereogum.com/2203077/best-new-bands-artists-2022/lists/best-new-bands/ and drat if they don't nail the early 90s Roadrunner sound, they have a lot of LIFE OF AGONY and a fair bit of TYPE O NEGATIVE in their sound (plus a spot of CROWBAR, maybe), not surprising as they are also from Brooklyn. https://ageofapocalypseny.bandcamp.com/album/grim-wisdom Long time since I was even slightly enthused by crunchy guitars. Clearly a very cool and good guy
