I just moved and haven't made any friends here. My kid has expressed some interest in crusty indie bands, and tickets are only like 30 bux. I think I take her? Is there any reason not to? Can being exposed to a bunch of 40 year old dudes with beards and flannel negatively impact her psyche?
I'm pretty sure it will be fun, but I'm terrified to make decisions for myself.

I'm not worried about that too much. She likes some "throw back" stuff, but mostly listens to whatever her friends listen to.

I mean, that's basically the approach my dad took with me, I personally can't remember spending any time with him beyond a few fishing trips when he needed a sober driver.
Let me tell you about learning to drive a stick shift Ford truck at 13 from a belligerently drunk man-child.

Anyhow, I turned out fine, I harbor no ill will, and I won't let my emotionally fraught teenage years influence the decision on what nursing home I dump him in the minute his health starts to decline.

If your kid is too young to drink and it's a licensed venue, check first whether they'll be allowed in.

My favorite stuff to listen to when I do chores is 60's pop, and that's because the oldies station was always on in my house when I was a kid, it's not all necessarily good, but it's a nostalgia bomb and makes me feel good.

The last show I saw was Dinosaur Jr. Which I'm sure shares the same demographic, I would guess based on that, there will be plenty of Women's small shirts, but my size will be in high demand and sell out quick. It's me, I'm the fatty

Two questions:

1) Is your kid harnessed in slums?
2) Does she want to be free?

It's basically a consolation prize, since we weren't able to get her Taylor Swift tix.
Eric Bachmann is basically the male gen-x version of her anyhow.

I think I hate Taylor Shift just because I never stop seeing her name. She's some pop star, why is she in the news? Gotta read about her loving jet and be more annoyed at her.

I'm glad your kids don't get to see her, I hope the consolation concert is wicked awesome and your kids switch their love to these bready artillerymen instead.

I guess I should clarify that I'll help him find the best nursing home that Medicaid will pay for.

The ditch is my retirement plan and I don't need anybody stealing the one I have picked out.

if I had a kid you bet your rear end they'd be going to Sleep, Om, High on Fire and Mastodon shows w/ me (no, in fact, they would not because there's no such thing as an all-ages venue here outside casinos and those guys don't play all-ages outside festivals anyway and there ain't no festivals in Albuquerque)

Yeah. One of the best things my cousin did for me was share a They Might Be Giants album with me when I was 7. And my mom giving me a copy of her favorite Neil Young record when I was a teen. It's a great way to have your kid get into the music singularity that is Steely Dan.
