Once again the rent is too drat high, so I’m in the process of moving a town over and it turns out it’s an accursed Xfinity town. Went to sign up, saw that they’re running some kind of Black Friday deal, and immediately made the mistake of being pretty pleased with that. Went through all the hoops. Filled everything out. Got to the very last page and wouldn’t you know it! Suddenly the price went up by  “Oh well”, I thought to myself, “that’s just Xfinity doing their thing”. It’s kinda stupid for the frog to blame the scorpion and all that. Thought I was all wise taking screenshots of each step. Figured that would help when I contacted one of their poor abused support agents. Sent the screenshots. The support person was actually pretty nice about it and was being really helpful. “A nice surprise!”, I thought to myself. Turns out I’m a loving moron because the friendly support agent took a big sigh and said they’d have to transfer me to a different agent. I sighed as well. Thanked them for their service and waited for a callback from this other guy. Got the call and now Xfinity wants  over what they quoted, and they’re graciously adding in a bunch of TV services for the TV I don’t own. I tell them no thanks just give me what I was originally quoted and they transfer me to another agent who gives me the same poo poo offer. I explain that this is fraud, get transferred to yet another agent, and receive the poo poo offer yet again.I finally snap, do my best to only swear about Xfinity’s evils and not about the support agents. After all, they’re just fellow unfortunate souls trapped in this telecommunications hell with me. Finally I get high up enough in the chain for someone to hang up on me. 15 minutes later the original correct offer pops up in my inbox. I follow the link and everything works at the correct price. WTF Xfinity? You’re just supposed to be there so I can not think about you while I post and download porn. Imagine working there. Just a pure and absolute hell. Like Pentex but with none of the perks.

I have Xfinity, and just recently they dropped my internet bill by 20 bucks while doubling the speed. Of course the reason why is because somehow my city decided to run fiber to every home and it would eat Xfinity’s lunch if they didn’t do something. Anyway that’s my story.

The only good thing about xfinity is that they freaked out about Google fiber eating their lunch here and put me on a plan with every cable channel (I don't watch tv but at least it's free HBO max) and home security (not great, simplisafe was better but this is free) and gigabit internet for lower than I'd ever paid. I guess they legally have to send out info on all their available packages and price every year and mine isn't listed. I daren't speak with them for fear they'll realize they've hosed up and cut me off. Oh also their modems are all kinds of bad and by default will offer your internet connection up to any xfinity subscriber nearby so make sure you disable that I guess.

About 14 years ago I lived in an apartment building that offered a low-speed Comcast hookup included as part of the rent but it was too slow so I talked to Comcast and had mine upped. When I moved out Comcast somehow decided that I was actually responsible for the entire building and kept hounding me and wouldn't listen when I told them their stupid poo poo was wrong and eventually they sent me to collections and they didn't gently caress off until I threatened lawyers.

i had to spend like 200 a month on us cellular to give me a router that connects to their phone lines, gets 4mb/s and caps me at 250 gb a month and then when i went in there to complain about the price they were like 'oh yeah the bill should only be 70 a month and also your router is like 3 versions behind. you still owe us 200 a month tho.' so i would be quite happy to get hosed by xfinity rn tbh

Protip: If you live in an apartment complex many of them have representatives. I couldn't get gently caress-all done through like a dozen different Xfinity channels but then my leasing agent gave me the reps number and he gave me the best package cheap as gently caress, had it set up in like 30 minutes, and followed up with me like a couple of months later to give me more free poo poo. Xfinity sucks every dick in the universe, but those representatives will make you a nice steak dinner and call your mother for you.

i'd think i might take xfinity over cox. fiber isn't available in my part of the city, and cox just basically butt fucks you price-wise i used to get 100mbps up and down with verizon fios on fiber (which was so pleasant. never had any issues with the service). now i get 150 down, 10 up for about $20 more, not fiber

I just switched from Xfinity to Frontier fiber, $70/month for 3 years for gig up and down. That’s including tax and the mesh WiFi equipment. Can’t complain op.

My buddy just bought a place but it’s just far enough off the main streets there is no wired internet available at all. He has to use an ATT sub that’s meant for mobile phones, so he has to connect to an vpn to fool att to use it through his router. He only pays like 60/m but is whole house gets like 4mb/s max lol

we have spectrum. its the only thing available. its time people got together and started demanding municiple broadband. I know that neither party is going to do anything about the fact that these companies are basically regional monopolies and can do and charge whatever they want while adding things like metered connections. I spent two days digging a trench with hand tools and $1100 on conduit to get fiber access from one block away. Ran it about 800ft. This was after telecom said they wouldn't run it down my gravel road because I didn't have poles. (I'm off grid on solar). But they were willing to hookup from the nearest access point node as long as the run was prepped for them. Worth every penny and drop of sweat to get 1gig up/down compared to my previous 5mbps...

It's way better than it used to be but their "deals" always involve a price that increases after 6 months, or has hidden fees, or a price that is inflated for whatever reason where you'd have to call to get it lowered.

Xfinity is the only cable internet available where i live and every year when it's time to renegotiate my contract with them it's the same poo poo as you OP. one time i had them graciously offer me some TV deal and i said no, i dont want that but they added it to my service anyway and then charged me for it. just recently they insisted on sending me something called xfinity flex which is some cable box for tv streaming i think? again i told them no thank you but they sent it anyway and now it lives unopened in the closet. they periodically send me emails encouraging me to activate it but i'd rather not. gently caress xfinity.

Yeah we get that you're pissed at stuff that's out of our control, but we're still the ones that have to hear it, and the CEO never will. Even when the recordings get reviewed, it's just another department of mules who compare our verbage to the script and grade it accordingly.
