the ACSC security hardening guidelines havent been updated for win11 so if you run win10 21h2 it's easier to tick boxes

biggest issue with windows 11 is kind of new, in that it *used* to have at least one headline improvement (wsl stuff), but now that's backported to 10. so there's no reason to go on 11 until you're either on too new hardware (e.g. raptor lake) or 10 exits support.

I just recently started using powertoys run and it's so much better than the current start menu search (in windows 10; I still haven't used 11) that I literally don't understand why they don't either include it with windows or maybe even just take it and use it instead of the current start menu search? powertoys run has all kinds of cool shortcuts in it like searching for settings using $, services using !, apps using ., etc so loving handy

powertoys is great yeah. it's a flashback to the era when computers had a bunch of useful settings that the programmers thought would be useful instead of a control panel with three sliders that all don't do what you want

both my windows 10 machines and my mac it works fine i updated my windows 10 desktop to 11 and none of my bluetooth stuff worked with it so i blew it away and i haven't bothered reinstalled 10 on it yet my work laptop is windows 10 and i told them to not upgrade it until after i quit. a bunch of my colleagues upgraded and they all started having bt issues

new MS teams adventure today at work somehow, the text input box changed to "drop your files here" during use, and nothing I do can get it to go away. Can't click through that thing to type text, that's for sure it's UI race conditions all the way down
