it’s okay to enjoy something for the performances while recognizing it has other flaws knives out’s script is fine, though. it’s very trope-heavy but it’s explicitly a genre piece in one of the trope-heaviest genres around. but it’s continually entertaining which is what it’s supposed to be

i love that stupid rear end movie, though i probably haven't' seen it in 15 years. my most memorable part is when the son sees his dad falls off the log bridge(?) and he goes DAD! NOOOOOOOOO! in the least convincing performance ever.

i liked knives out a fair bit, glass onion was only okay. i think it tried to be funny too often, knives out got the balance of comedy/mystery right and the jokes landed better because they didn’t come as fast

if you like knives out or glass onion, you might like See How They Run it's sam rockwell and saoirse ronan investigating a murder at a performance of an agatha christie play and was clearly greenlit based on the success of knives out as it tries to have the same mix of comedy and mystery
