all fine to disagree, steam remains my primary platform too after all. i really don't find it obvious the like 2018 state of affairs when it was the only game in town was good even so though. vibe is a bit like being invested in itunes before streaming. yeah it was better in some ways, but apple being the one game in town was at minimum not an obvious good thing e: oops, more posts on a new page, but hopefully clear anyway. Is there a better or even comparable storefront? circling back to the original comment that game pee rear end is "bad for the market overall", i agreed with that because Microsoft is poo poo and having them own every developer AND producer AND storefront AND platform is gonna stagnate the quality of games. That wasn't a comment (in my head) about the store front or storefronts at all but maybe thats just how i view it and not the ops intention

i'm not sure what you're lamenting here, the fact that the video game market has not yet been reduced to exclusivity split across a dozen ad-infested storefronts like what happened to video streaming post-Netflix? having one and only one store where I can buy a given game and each game having a different exclusive store is not loving "competition". i mean yeah in principle it would be nice if there was some sort of universal videogame distribution package format which could be shipped through a dozen different stores and the player bases on all of these stores could all magically cross-play somehow but that is never going to happen so having a privately-owned company run a single mostly-consumer-friendly store is the next best thing. a lot of indie stuff is for sale on gog as well so that form of "competition" does exist to a limited extent if that matters to you.
