A popular red food dye (cochineal?) Is made from the bodies of crushed insects. I am not kidding. I'm not sure if that's the same as Red Dye #2. Ban all insects in food IMO, unless they're labelled as such on the packaging.

At least here in Australia, there are jokes about not giving red cordial to kids. I've read that a red coloring that used to be used really did overstimulate people who consumed it. But according to the same article, it stopped being used decades ago. Maybe it's still in use in California, and it's use might explain some of the many flakes who live there.

The persistent argument, at least around here, is that the government needs to be given a fair opportunity and enough time to try to kill people.
