No offense but do you think, given the lady doing Naruto runs and stuff, for Boric to lean into getting stuck in a slide? Maybe he could start dressing like Homer or saying Doh? That might turn things around for him.

-MORE MONEY FOR US

-FUCK...YOU KNOW, THE THING

Why do latin american political parties have such inscrutable anodyne names. It's always some poo poo formed two years ago with a name like Vamonos.

I mean it's not like European party names bear any resemblance to their policies, but you at least understand what they're pretending to be

US has the Democrat and Republican parties, it's hard to get more anodyne or inscrutable than that

Those aren't the names of the parties, those are the names of the coalitions.

The large parties have been mostly the same. Partido Justicialista, Unión Cívica Radical, etc.

Lol

quote:

“President Lopez Obrador’s federal budget for 2023 gives priority to social spending and signature infrastructure projects, rather than the investments needed to address bilateral issues with the US such as migration, security, and trade,” reads the document from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. “Lopez Obrador’s meager investment in migration, security, and trade-related organizations will probably undermine Mexico’s ability to follow through on commitments to stem the flow of irregular migrants and fentanyl to the US and boost economic competitiveness in North America.”

because they have fairer electoral systems than the US which invite dynamic change between coalition partners. it's cool imo

on the other hand, people are less politically concious in general id say, at least here in mexico. as a result a lot of parties tend to be a jumble of meaningless slogans instead of any coherent political project, and the names tend to reflect that

haiti seems to be in a condition of almost total state dissollution. when the state fails to maintain monopoly of violence even in relatively well-off communities, those communities will organise militias and defend their neighborhoods. often, these militias will themselves turn into predatory gangs. eventually, an equilibrium is usually reached where the parties agree that the violence is hurting everyone and benefiting almost nobody, but a fair amount of blood has to be spilled to reach that point and haiti's attempts at setting up a minimally effective state have been severely hampered by outside forces since forever.

PERALTA: For all 69 years of her life, she had voted for the party born in the aftermath of the Mexican revolution.

PERALTA: Everyone used to vote for them, she says, but they never helped. So this time, no way. She lives in Ecatepec, a massive suburb of Mexico City. She looks around. What she wants from her government is very simple.

PERALTA: "We need running water. We want for the potholes to be filled and for our streets to be safe," she says. For these gubernatorial elections, Mexico's most established political parties - the PRI, the PAN and the PRD - parties that were once historical enemies banded together to try to defeat Morena, the party of President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. But the super coalition failed. Instead, Delfina Gomez, a former teacher with relatively little political experience, won by a huge margin.

I saw an r/Vietnam thread on Luna_oi once that was a bunch of redditors going “this lady is delusional no one in Vietnam thinks socialism is real anymore even the party knows it’s a joke” and “she’s clearly paid by the cvp” which seemed contradictory

like by definition the official party line probably isn’t something that is an insane fringe belief in the country
