At one job we had a plumbing problem that meant we had to use the womens’ bathroom for a couple of hours one day and it was hosed.

all the restaurants ive ever worked in I was always boh and cleaning the bathrooms was part of my duties at every one and in each and every one the women's restaurant was the absolute worst place to clean in the restaurant. especially at krispy kreme, i don't know if it's because they gave away free donuts which attracted the type of people to the restaurant that might do this but there would be a disgusting poo poo-on-the-walls level incident in the women's restroom every now and then, and it never once happened in the men's restroom. I just had a review recently and it went great. One of the things my boss built in as one of my goals for the year is to move my whole department to another spot in the building. Problem is, that spot is currently a metal shop, with a welder, drill presses, a shear, an old massive sheet metal brake, an electromagnetic brake, etc. and an absolute poo poo ton of metal. It's also in an unconditioned area of the building, and my QC lab needs to be conditioned.

So not only am I responsible for getting all of that poo poo out and moved to another building or other parts of this building (where there's no room), he plans to wall that area in and heat/cool it, build another smaller room inside of it for environmental testing, and run electrical/water/air. I'm kind of at the mercy of like 3 or 4 other departments getting their poo poo out/making room, and also taking someone's office in the process. I'm supposed to get all of this done by mid October somehow, and I have a bonus hinging on it.

I don't think I'm going to get that bonus dudes.

I don't know what the right way to disincentivize people from using your toilet to shoot up is, but at the end of the day that's bad loving news for a business if it's happening. Everything from people nodding off in the stalls to the risk of having an on-property OD to potential liability if an employee or customer gets stuck on a used needle to the potential for it also turning into a place people are dealing and all the poo poo that entails . . . it's just no good, top to bottom.

For the record, I think that decriminalization is the best policy and that addicts should have safe places to use. Better someone have a clinic that they can go to, get their stuff tested, and get help if they OD than die in a random restroom or abandoned house etc. But from a business standpoint holy poo poo you do not want your bathrooms being the place that people go to get high.

Give a heroin junkie narcan and he'll come up swinging for the fences. In some areas it's gotten so bad that the EMTs will restrain the junkie before administering it.

I was the head cook at one of the worst restaurants in town to work at. Employee retention was so bad, we'd fire and re-hire people multiple times in a month. If you just showed up, chances are you'd get a second, third, or fourth chance.

This lead to one of our rare all-hands meetings where I had to give a little speech about not shooting up in our bathrooms, not stealing our spoons to cook in and leaving them stuffed up in the poo poo-ticket dispenser, and definitely not cleaning off needles by running them into the side of said poo poo-ticket rolls.

Just go out to your car to get high like everyone else, gently caress.

For some reason people really don’t want to believe it, but anyone who has ever had to clean public restrooms on the reg knows the truth.

The men’s room will have little puddles of piss all over the floor and on some toilet seats and also filthy handprints on the urinal wall. There are paper towels and scraps of toilet paper on the floor. Maybe poo poo smeared on a seat now and again to keep it interesting.

Meanwhile the ladies has blood on the ceiling and poopy mountains made out of TP and dirty rear end gaskets in every stall. Used pads are glued to the outside of the trash can and every seat has multiple layers of piss soaked TP covering it like papier mache. Used tampons dangle from coat hooks. If the toilet is slightly too dirty then someone will have poo poo on the floor next to it and also on the side of the toilet and definitely on the wall. Half the time the little trash can in the stall is empty.

We cleaned the toilets every two hours and it usually wasn’t often enough.

Many of us are disgusting animals in the bathroom but a public ladies room (assuming you’re working somewhere where the gender balance is 50/50) is always next level disgusting beyond anything the boys do to their space.

Not judging the way people conduct their business, just constantly surprised how far off perception is from reality in this area.

All that said I’d so rather go back to cleaning toilets than keep generating useless meeting information for this useless meeting factory if the pay were equal. Honestly the janitors should get senior dev money. Actually more money, given how lovely our apps are vs how lovely our toilets aren’t.

We’ve just today been informed we have get to stop working from home and start coming into the office three days a week starting right after Christmas.

After/before school daycare here booked up solid and the waiting list completely filled up back in early February so I need to be home for school dropoffs and pickups. They are hosed if they expect to see me on prem before 10 am or after 2 pm in the first half of 2024. Enjoy having me dial into meetings from the car. Ugh. I knew this was most likely coming but was really holding out hope.

Edit: hey I just did the math this decision is going to cost me $18,000 a year if I use the cheapest day care and summer camps. Yeah time to look for a new job.

If on very rare occasions my son or I forget to flush or put down the toilet seat, my wife will harangue us for hours afterward.

When I collect the trash, I find her panty liners tossed into the bathroom trash cans sticking to the sides. A few times I gently suggested that "Maybe you can wrap those in toilet paper so they don't stick to the sides, requiring me to touch the sticky, used liners?" After those suggestions were ignored, I moved to the practice of "if the trash doesn't slide out, whatever is left can just stay there" and let her deal with it.

Funny enough, after the first time she asked me, "Why didn't you empty the trash?" and I explained that it was above my pay grade, she never asked again. But used panty liners sticking to the trash cans still occurs to this day.

That one is a WD19TBS by the look of it, it has the lightning symbol for thunderbolt. IIRC the dock itself is the same as far as ports go, only difference is which cable module is installed. We're roughly 75 employees and still operate on a very mom and pop type basis. We have no internal resources for anything, that's the fun part!

Yeah we're going to have to get contractors, we don't even have an in house maintenance person at the moment, myself and a few other people handle building issues because we're "handy" but we all have our normal jobs and in my case I have like 3 different roles as is (I manage QC, but I'm also partial IT, I handle the phone system, dabble in R&D, deal with any issues regarding our cameras/alarms/solar array).

I can rough in the electrical myself and just have contractors make the actual electrical connections to our panels, and I can run the water and air lines. I could in theory build the stud walls and do all of the walling it in somewhat myself I guess but again, that really isn't my job and shouldn't be on me. Our production foreman does HVAC as a side business and also handles all HVAC for the building so he'll be doing that part.
