Sleek, well designed, bite-sized puzzley/roguelite gameplay. Playable with one hand on the mouse or a few keys on the keyboard. RNG in the skill selection/upgrades makes each playthrough quite different, or just completely fucks you over, but even trying to make a series of bad draws work is a lot of fun. It's like ten bucks and it's just good.

This has been out for months. It is decent though.

This was a really amazing game. The comparisons to Katana ZERO are pretty apt - it's right up there in quality.

However, the ending struck me as a little odd. Did Mister just walk off to repair the reactor and die there? I think his fate was left deliberately ambiguous but it seemed a little abrupt of an ending after the previous scene. Did I miss something? Is there a hidden final scene if you beat legendary mode or something like that?

I don't know whether there's a hidden scene, but Mari suggested she was going to get melted by radiation if she walked in there and that stuff fucks up electronics too. So yeah I figured he died. Was kind of hoping for one final boss though.

I tried it for a bit, not feeling it and I love this genre overall. Animations are stiff/janky, the camera is in a fixed position with fully 3d environment, it has no option to adjust text speed (and no voice acting at all), and worst of all, the movement speed is too low for how big/spread out the town is.

You start as a blob with a double jump, and unlock alternate shapes with extra skills. It matches up to 10 players and gives you levels based on the collective skills. Beating levels and helping people gives you karma, karma unlocks more shapes.

It has the potential to be frustrating, but I found it was mostly on the chill side. The levels go by fairly fast and the loss is downplayed if you fail. Lobbies fill up fast too despite it having few reviews. Helps that it's crossplay.

Do you logic puzzles, and in particular zebra puzzles, where you are given a set of clues like "The gamer has a hat on. Amanda never stands next to hats. Jake is not a gamer . Barbara is wearing a hat" and you have to figure out who is standing next to each other and in which order?

Do not sleep on Logic Town, mentioned upthread. It has a story mode, where each completed puzzle unlocks a repair to a building. It also has freeplay, where the game generates puzzles; you can decide whether or not to play this mode ranked.

It's probably because the clues aren't very well communicated compared with other similar games, and a lot of the scenarios use objects that are relatively hard to tell apart.

I went through the game. You have a handy way to display all clues at once as little pictographs.
It's a nice piece to keep your brain distracted while watching a movie or something. But yes, some of those items look quite similar.
More importantly the levels are really wildly different in difficulty. Usually you can solve them quite easily by following a path of known things. But sometimes there are giant 6x6 grids with like 30 clues, where none of them give you any direct information, only "x is in between y and z" and similar things. So you sloooowly make progress by eliminating x from the corners and then checking if any of all those clues has something like "a in the same row as x". By that point it gets really really tedious, until you finally find a break-in point. Maybe it's my own fault because it was kind of addicting and I did to much at a time, but by the end of the game I was mostly just annoyed and wanted it to end.

I don't like it when you're watching me eat.

There's a demo (or was during the previous Next Fest)

It's pretty fun, but unlike most souls-likes there is no recharge on healing consumables. So if you have 7 heals (the max), use 3 and die to the boss, when you respawn, you'll have 4. Resting at the equivalent to a bonfire resets enemies and heals you, but provides no other solid benefit. There is a shop, but at least in the demo, it's at least half the map away from the nearest quick travel point.

I've found this is less of an issue in the long term of the full game, as when you're exploring you're constantly picking up heals that go into storage. Resting will replenish your stock fine. I haven't had to buy any, but I've unlocked a merchant that sells them at the hub, and killing a single enemy will give me enough currency to buy 4.

It'd be real hard to replicate the first, and I'm not sure this one does it based on the trailer. The coolest thing about FB1, in my opinion, was the movement. Being able to, for example, hang from a platform, swing out a bit so you drop down and miss the platform below, but grabbing the platform below that, for example. Or being able to draw your gun mid air and fire the instant you land, etc.

The trailer here seems to emphasize gunplay in a 2.5D environment instead, so I'm not sure if they're going for the same thing as the first. Dunno for sure, I'd play a demo to find out though.

I've been playing it. It's not working for me that well. There's a lot of bouncing around between locations as you slowly level skills and barely scrape surviving the next combat encounter. Fighting seems spongy despite how easy it is to die, given that you are almost always outnumbered and frequently started in a disadvantageous position. It has the general feel of something they balanced on the experience of their veteran playtesters.

Maybe I'll start it over on the heroic baby difficulty level and see if it grabs me more.

I have found it really pays to specialize. For example, I am playing a character that has dumped everything to get high INT, CHA & CON. I grabbed the 10 CHA heroic feat and have picked up all three of the early game companions. Two are focusing entirely on combat, one focuses on stealth, and I focus on all the other skills. With all the skill tags from Int and the tag feat, and focusing purely on non-combat skills, all the speech skills and all but one science skills have been tagged.

This has given me multiple ways to approach things, and still have competent fighters if the only answer is violence. My guy mostly sticks back with an energy shield and throws grenades, since they don't have a skill requirement. The game has by no means been easy, and I had to restart a few of the nastier fights, but I've been making steady progress and passing pretty much every skill check.

I played it a bit. It's... not too great so far I have to say. The story is kind of interesting, but the gameplay doesn't really do it for me. There's no physics, so there are awkward situation where you slightly miss when the prompt for climbing up a ledge pops up and have to reposition yourself. You can ride a hoverbike between areas but the performance of those sections is atrocious. Then there's combat, which is incredibly easy since you have both a dodge and a shield which is generally plenty for most situations even though aiming can be a bit fiddly. I agree with you, I would've much preferred a more classic art style. Updated for modern times, but not like how they did it.

One of my dream games would be a surfing game taking place on a series of islands. There would be fully physics based surf breaks, timed swells with different amplitudes and periods and directions, a boat to get around the islands and find/surf new spots, which sometimes would be unsurfable but with the right tide and swell direction would go off. And the surfing itself would be completely physics-based too. Waves would break properly, just like they do in real life. This game is not that game, but I am happy that there is a surfing game, the first in a LONG time. However, this looks not great and reminds me of Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer with how unrealistic the waves and surfing look. The way the waves break is especially bad, that's simply not anything like reality. 90% positive out of 30 so far.
