It's worth it for me to have a separate savings account because it's just enough of a pain in the rear end to take money out that I can generally keep my filthy mitts off of it and actually save a little money. This, though: Hel posted:IIRC here in Sweden we legislated that you should be able to take out your money without the banks taking a fee, which means no monthly cost for accounts and no cost for ATM and other withdrawals, paying bills is also free, but internet shopping and ATM cards have yearly costs(~20€/yr each). Of course if you're a student or below 21 years old they'll probably waive most/all fees. AFAIK the only difference between savings and non-savings accounts is the interest. Oh man anyone read the comments on GoComics for Gilchrist's Nancy? I've been scoping them out over the last few Phil strips. quote:Thanks to all who opened up and made comments yesterday. quote:Guy has really taken a step outside the normal action of a strip like NANCY, hasn’t he? The return of :Phil has opened a new direction – one that has been sadly missing from most strips in the last 20 years are so. NANCY’s strip began as a light-hearted look at a cute young lady whose name named FRITZI RITZ. Phil was the main boyfriend even back then. After Fritzi adopted (?) her sister’s daughter, the child took over the strip and it’s title and was played for laughs. Now Guy is moving into unknown territory that is usually ignored in comic strips. It’s great that he has the courage to look at a problem that has been around for many centuries, maybe even from Adam and Eve with their own kids. Parenting is one of the most important jobs in the world, but to many people don’t have much of an idea how to instill self-worth in the kids they have brought into this world. I think I’ll stop now before I get accused of preaching to much. quote:When Newt Gingrich once said USA needs more orphanages as safe havens for children in need, Shrillery Clinton reacted that orphanages are horrible places like in Oliver Twist (a fictional work by Charles Dickens). Gingrich then said he meant places like Boys Town, Shrillery said Boys Town is “just a movie.” OMG is she ever ignorant on the subject especially considering that where she grew up in Park Ridge, IL, Chicago’s Angel Guardian orphange was not too far from her home & I’m sure she never visited there! Sheeeeesh! (Sorry about getting political.) ![]()

Apparently Inspector Danger is Detective of the Rich. Every one of his cases seems to involve a wealthy man getting murdered by heirs who just happened to have been scheduled to visit them the day of the murder. Never a gang hit, never a mugging gone wrong, never a jealous rage, never a bizarre accidental death that looks like a weird murder at first.

The Boys Town film, as well-regarded as it is, is also a monument of emotional manipulation in the old Hollywood style, which makes this sequence Guy Gilchrist's version of game recognizing game.
