cohsae posted:That lizard was killed and then posed btw. From what I could glean from the photographer's Facebook, not the case. It seems that it's a pet of his. He had at least one other picture where it's laying on its back in his hand, but is very clearly alive. I think it's just really used to being handled and posed.

Three-Phase posted:My fingers be damned - I would totally boop that cheetah on the nose. Cheetahs are relatively calm and docile around humans compared to the other big cats; you'd get a hell of a yelling at from the zoo and caretakers but it's not outside the realm of possibility that the cheetah would, in fact, let you.

They're really not. Like, they're less aggressive towards humans than lions, leopards or tigers, sure. But they're very excitable and become nervous easily. That's why a lot of zoos have service dogs for cheetahs, to help keep them calm. They're still wild animals, and fairly unpredictable. There's a good chance that the cheetah would let you boop its nose (especially if it's purring), but it could also get scared suddenly and decide it needs to bite you. Please do not boop cheetahs unless their handlers give you specific permission to do so. EDIT: For content, here's a picture of a puppy and a little cheetah bonding over a snooze: ![]()

I have a cute story. My one-year-old niece's best friend is the family cat, a rather shy and skittish adopted Siamese who adores"her" baby. She greets my niece as most kitties greet their friends: with headbutts. My niece has therefore decided that all cats must be greeted by butting heads with them.

Please do not boop cheetahs unless their handlers give you specific permission to do so. So basically if you want to boop a cheetah you boop the cheetah's dog who then will do the actual booping at a later date. It's like some people have seeing eye dogs, and seizure alert dogs, a cheetah's got a booping nose dog.
