Undeniably one of the strongest seasons of an anime ever produced. Legendary.

This is an incredible show that lives up to all the hype. One question though -- how did Dimple survive in the jar? Was he secretly a badass or something?

RoboCicero posted:This is an incredible show that lives up to all the hype. It hasn't been a secret, he's been trying to show off this entire time. He's just surrounded by Mob and Teru, who are ridiculous. But Dimple has always been an upper class evil spirit. His first appearance is effortlessly brainwashing several hundred people in under a month into totally loyal followers, who were so broken by the experience that the moment they were free they formed a new cult. If you go back to episode 3, he's also a total monster in the fight with Mob - he's just also hopelessly outclassed by 100% Anger. Dimple is very strong. He's just surrounded by people who are stronger and the story is told from those peoples' perspectives, not Dimple's.

Honestly, Teru beating him doesn't even reflect poorly on Dimple, since that was after Mob annihilated most of him and severely weakened him. We have no idea what full Dimple versus Teru would have been like. Though it's still interesting that, even after all that, he survived the jar; I wonder if that Claw guy, despite being a Scar, just had super-weak spirits, or if Dimple really had recovered that much by that point.

It took me a few episodes to warm up to Mob Psycho, but this anime was brilliant, and it vastly exceeded my expectations. The characterisation and storytelling was great, and the voice acting too, and the animation was something special. I don't remember the last time I was this impressed with an anime's creativity in its animation. Reigen is the best character, but I think we all know that. I suppose that since people guess there couldn't be a second season until maybe 2018, I'll just have to start reading the manga, because I can't wait that long.

The last time I noted this was during the Teru arc, but man the voice acting and direction in MP100 is noticeably good. I can't think of another anime where I actually payed attention to how the VA's acted rather that just how their voices sounded.

This was a great finale. I absolutely didn't expect that Reigen would save the day by talking them all into submission. It was the best possible outcome, though. He is so powerful. ![]() I still don't really want to read One's version. The extra level of slickness that the anime adds is kind of necessary for me to stay interested. It just seems like the best way to experience Mob Psycho. ![]()

The best way to experience Mob is actually to consume as much of it as humanly possible as often as possible

Wait, what's the reason we won't have a next season 'til 2018? Is the manga just not far enough? Or are they doing too much other stuff next year?

I will only read the webcomic if there's a version that adds in the cool psychic auras when the Espers do stutf I'm only half joking but that was a sick effect and I loved that everyone's aura was different and what it said about their character.

I think people just assume we won't get One Punch Man and Mob Psycho at the same time. We probably won't, but I am kinda under the impression that season 2 of Mob is already in the works.

A decent chunk of this last arc reminded me of Punchline and heck, that's a good thing. Feels like they both drew from the same well but came to different conclusions. And More posted:I still don't really want to read One's version. I'm in the same boat though it's more that I'm more of an anime guy. I'm glad that it felt like enough of a stopping point such that even if we never get more, I'm satisfied with the story I got.

Good anime, couldn't have picked a better spot to end the first season. Can't wait for more in a year or two. Everyone should seriously consider reading the manga though, I know lots of people feel the anime is the definitive version but the comic is still extremely good and I don't think anyone will be disappointed with reading it.

EmmyOk posted:So does Mob realise that Reigen is a conman? I get the impression that on some level he does but heck given what that last arc was all about, there's no reason for him to bring it up. Reigen is a man of many talents, after all.

Mob often uses his powers to form a barrier around reigen to protect him from harm, and I don't think he would bother with that if he truly believed that reigen was as powerful as he says he is

Shugojin posted:Reigen's greatest power is the ability to empathize with a psychic kid going through poo poo he never did Reigen's only real sin is that he's kinda cheap, and only pays Mob a couple of bucks a day, but considering how often he buys and/or makes them both food, and is trying to treat Mob as "a person, who happens to have powers", I'm willing to let that slide. He's still cheap, don't get me wrong, he's underpaying this kid like hell, but he's not exactly maliciously exploiting him. I don't know if it's even right to call him a con man, since he does solve people's problems, just with back massages and photoshop rather than with psychic powers. He's misrepresenting his work, but it's good work all the same.

Shugojin posted:Reigen's greatest power is the ability to empathize with a psychic kid going through poo poo he never did I mean, Mob is going thru poo poo EVERYONE does, it's just that his poo poo also involves world-destroying psychic powers. He's a lonely, retracted boy that wants to be something else. Reigen is just perceptive enough (while being detached enough from the psychic thing) to notice these power struggles are just lack of maturity.

Reigen is possibly the best mentor type character in manga, objectively he's useless, subjectively he's the most powerful character in the entire show. loving amazing character And loving amazing last two episodes. We should all learn and be like reigen, confidence trumps competence.
