I like the idea of a drum magazine that I can eject and use as a tactical mallet when I run out of ammo because of all the sustained fire I was doing from a prone position, using the bipod of course.

But it's "a good truck gun for varmints", if picking off prairie dogs in the south 40 isn't the very definition of a tactical engagement then I don't know what is!

I am a horrible person, disregard my posts.

I dreamed of a tactical gun last night that was so intensely lame I woke up and my very first thought was "Why the gently caress would anyone do that? Why?"

It was some kind of Enfield with like a 24" barrel and a Mannlicher stock. It had rails bolted to the sides and bottom of the wood stock (we're talking miles of rails here) and then tapped directly into the barrel to mount a rail waaaaay up front at the muzzle end of the barrel, to which an Aimpoint was mounted as some kind of insane super scout mount.

There was an AR15 grip bolted to the wood stock as a pistol grip, and a VFG waaaaaaaaaaay up front. There was a bigass flashlight on it too.

The kicker? It was a single shot.

I own one of those, and I was considering purchasing that ATI stock and fore-end so I could post it in this thread. Then I saw the price here in Australia and it was about half the price of the actual rifle.

gently caress that, the rifle is worth so little that investing that much extra is just not worth it. I'd rather spend the cash on ammo.

edit - actually, mine is better - it's one of the models without the lovely safety.

Rails on AKs just look so stupid. I tried the UTG rail on my WASR and it worked wonderfully but looked like dog poo poo.

About the only time they look good is when it is on something like a Krinkov so the rails have to be tiny and useful.

Actually most rails usually look retarded and heavy to me.

That looks like an 870 or 500/590 with a Knoxx Sidewinder kit, an AR15 stock and a picatinny rail on top with detachable AR15 irons.

I find it depressing that someone might actually be stupid enough to modify a Mossberg 590 this way. You gain maybe two more rounds and add extra complexity & weight to an already big combat shotgun. I have the Mariner model, and, while it's not really heavy, it feels a bit unwieldy. It would be even more top-heavy after adding that useless crap.

However, I do like the Knoxx SpecOps stocks. The Sidewinder still looks like a dud, though.

It's painful, mechanical ... like they learned to shoot from a book. They really just need to pick up a .22 an concentrate on getting the body doing what it should first. They're just pissing money downrange atm.

The scope mount looks like one of Tapco's. I forget what it was called but they were actually kinda-sorta-almost nice, well if they fit right anyways. No where as good as the real H&K mounts obviously, but nice enough for the weekend plinkers.
edit: It was the "SWAT Mount." Came with a terrible scope, probably Leapers. At least the guy switched it out.

That handguard may actually be from JLD, they've been producing them for a long time.
