Since news of it first leaked, I've been wanting someone to ask Magpul how much they're paying Shirow in royalties.

However, that's the CZN M22 from the movie, and is less tacticlol than the semi-real Magpul PDW. It actually looks like a Serbian knock-off of a P90.

The Magpul more closely resembles the Seburo MN23.

Not a bad idea, too bad it isn't legal in Washington to conceal carry a carbine.

That gun shoots just fine when you keep it clean, if your wife or girlfriend is too small to control a pistol in any sort of realistic round one of these in .40 would be great, really easy to pull out, snap in place, and shoot. Yeah, it's a bit taticlol, but it is unique in that it fills a niche nothing else really does. I can't bring myself to hate the sub-2000.

Except the whole attacks generally happening within 10 feet kind of thing. There's not going to be enough time to draw, unfold, shoulder and sight when someone's that close, especially if the person under attack is freaking the gently caress out, which is to be expected from a lot of people. Now, if there's enough time to do all the steps necessary to ready that thing, then I do agree with you. However, I would not bet my life on there being adequate time.

The Kel-Tec does actually look like it'd be useful as a ranch rifle, especially since its cheap, but it's not at all a realistic concealed carry self-defense option.

I swear I remember hearing that it was developed as a survival gun, like in case your boat gets stuck and you have to go out into the forest or swampland. The reason it folds down has less to do with concealability and more that it doesn't get in the way of what you're doing. As a concealed carry defense weapon, it's a poor choice because 1) at 16 inches long, it's not very concealable 2) it takes too long to bring the weapon to bear.

For folding carbines that could fit, the Magpul FMG-9 would be better because its a spring-loaded folder with a Glock as its heart.

I still reserve judgment, but I remember when I went shooting with a friend, a married couple next to us had a Kel-Tec 9mm that jammed on every single round. My friend's Ramline was more reliable than that. Before that I would've respect Kel-Tec but seeing that took the shine off of them for me.

gently caress folding guns. MP5K PDW in its shoulder harness. You can easily carry it concealed in a sport jacket, you get 2 spare mags under your left arm, and when you're ready to deploy it, you simply sweep your jacket to the side, grab the gun and pull it straight out. The harness deploys the stock automatically.

I know women who can't handle the recoil on basically any pistol, but could shoot one of these. If the choice is between giving a woman a .22lr or a 9mm sub-2000 I think the choice would be obvious, however retarded.

Skunkabilly is an azn dude on THR IIRC - that may be him at left.

The chances of you coming on to an active shooter situation are far greater than you being involved alone.

Just think for one second; assuming everyone has equal chances of needing to use a firearm in self defense, the more people you encounter, the closer to parity your chances of needing to assist someone are.

It's still a clunky gun, though.

Agreed. I just can't think of anything comparable to it that is out there in production right now either.

At short distances basically anyone can take a carbine and hit with it. Frankly, I am surprised that more companies haven't tried to market some sort of small, easy to control carbine as a purse/knitting bag/laptop bag gun.

You are talking, what $500-600? + $200 for the stamp vs $300. Sure, you have a much superior product with the Glock, but that's a pretty huge price difference, not to mention the hassle of getting the tax stamp.

If I actually had to equip wife/grandma/whoever I would not give them a Sub-2000. I am willing to save up and drop however much money it takes to buy the right gun the first time.

My comment was more in terms of marketability. The Sub-2000 may not be the best gun, but it fills a niche nothing else seems to. It just surprises me that other manufacturers haven't designed a small, light carbine, and started up a marketing blitz aimed at feeble people who can't really carry and shoot a pistol. Especially with all the people running around with various bags full of random poo poo.

Mine was totally reliable so long as it was clean. I could keep 15 shots in a 8" circle at 50' in pretty rapid fire. I would never carry the damm thing but it would be fine for a HD or trunk gun.

I do with someone made a slightly heavier version with a light rail on it.
