The book is way uglier than the film and if they'd filmed something like the book I'd probably find it gross too, even though the book has equally amazing dark comedy.

The writer criticized the director for making the movie "too soft" and implied that she did it because she's a woman and as a result doesn't have the guts to do it right, so.... there's that.
I found American Psycho riveting, but when I see even a synopsis of Ellis' other works...Bret, if you hate the Long Island Lockjaw motherfuckers you grew up with, you know you can just move on and stop writing about them, right? You're allowed to hang out with people who didn't go to prep school.

I genuinely like Less than Zero and The Rules of Attraction. They both sound like they'd be really loving grim, but they're actually weirdly empathetic to the dirtbags they portray.

I saw Mandy over the weekend but I think I'm going to watch it again later this month before posting about it for the Challenge because I don't even know what to say. It's a rare experience to see a director emerge like that with such a strong statement, I think this is going to catapult Cosmatos into a whole other level and we'll hopefully hear about him getting all kinds of interesting offers for bigger projects. I suppose there were things you could nitpick, and they've been brought up in the thread for the movie, but I don't think anyone can really argue with the overall experience.

The Bunny Game is amateur porn with a framing device to justify calling it a horror movie. If you enjoy it, Kink does stuff with a vague horror theme that's far better made.

Edit: There's also an episode of Hannibal where he makes curry.

I forgot about Hex. I didn't like it as much because it didn't have a wizard duel and that's the big draw for me.
