Saw Bacchetti and Buttrich last night. Bacchetti was very good with his pounding basslines and very Latin influenced house. Buttrich took it straight to Detroit, that place got DARK real quick. You know a party is good when it's 5 AM on a loving Sunday and the club is packed wall to wall. Halloweekend rules

Has anyone been to a Moguai show? I might have some tickets coming my way to see him "and his newly formed LYVE setup" next Saturday and I have no idea if it'll be worth the trip.

http://soundcloud.com/elcucorecordings/sets/pickster-presents-the-rise-of-moombahton more like bro safari, K hole. Not even techy moombahton I'll take similar anything. In a mood. Moombahton just got a big writeup in mixmag too, harry ransom playing again in a few weeks, another moombahton massive, nouveu riche, and best of all that dirtybird residency. There goes all my money ever. Oh and for anyone else wanting to get into making their own mixes the whole traktor setup is 120 now http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/dj/traktor-audio-2/?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=TAI+special&utm_source=newsletter

I dunno if it has been posted yet but lately I have been listening to alot of Yelle and I think this is a pretty awesome remix! Also, the dancing is pretty funny. Some good French Synthpop. I have no idea what they are saying but I love it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyARHscb8mU

And although slightly off-topic, his Keith Apicary videos and 8-bit life is pretty awesome/funny too.

Boys and girls I'm having trouble recalling the name of a song but I remember the video, it had a stupidly attractive girl in it driving about with a chimp. They pull into a gas station/supermarket and grab some goodies. I seem to remember it being along the lines of Miami Horror kinda music. Please help me, my brain cannot stand forgetting things.

What is the consensus in this thread about minimal electronic music? I hardly see it mentioned in this thread, maybe it is located else where?

Flashing Twelve posted:House-y minimal (Gui Boratto, Moderat) is popular when it comes up but it tends to get drowned out because it's pretty niche. Gui Boratto is far from minimal although he makes some wicked techno. How minimal are you talking? Minimal is a massive genre. It ranges from "more minimal in nature" to "so minimal that the music is chopped up and looped rather than played". Ida Engberg, Paco Osuna, Steve Lawler, Super Flu, Loco Dice, Richie Hawtin, Magda, Dubfire, Ricardo Villalobos, Pig & Dan... Just some of the bigger names off the top of my head that play minimal in some form or another. If you're looking for more pure minimal stuff, check out Hawtin and his M_nus stuff. They usually do Womb (Tokyo) takeovers so you can find some live sets from that. Hawtin and Dubfire did a boilerroom takeover a few weeks ago, that was really good. Just keep in mind its roots are in techno which is probably one of the reasons why it doesn't get much attention here. It's very niche in North America but absolutely massive in Europe. RA's top 2 (of 100) DJs of 2010 are probably the biggest advocates of minimal.

I've been super into the German labels Dial and Laid (both started by Peter Kersten) and a lot of the more minimal guys on Kompakt and Mule (I always thought Gui Boratto was considered the sort of super-star of minimal, which is why he gets away with not being particularly minimal on occasion). And a lot of that stuff I mentioned above is pretty heavily house-influenced. Am I totally off base? Or is there room in the genre of "minimal" for house-y stuff? blumpkinbliss fucked around with this message at 22:58 on Nov 4, 2011 |

RA, while they do cover a lot of other genres, and they do have Andrew Ryce (who is probably the best reviewer out right now), minimal is really where their strength lies. Definitely listen to some Hawtin, and definitely listen to Villalobos. I'm a pretty big fan of Villalobos, especially Alcachofa and his Fabric mix. Also Magda's She's a Dancing Machine is great.

Breakbot at Yotel this past Saturday! Sounded too good to be true (free and open bar? also he was opening for Chromeo earlier that night at Terminal 5) which is why I asked earlier in the thread. Turned out to be great, he played about an hour and forty min set. Both Dave 1 and P-Thugg showed up towards the end. Also pretty small and snazzy venue, good times.

Breakbot played a wicked set. I've never been to the venue and the little Funktion One's really surprised me. The crowd was great and it was pretty full even after Breakbot finished and Alex English came on. Chromeo was actually there hanging out pretty much all night. My girlfriend was shooting the event with her best friend so I just hung out in the crowd most of the time and had a blast.

I know not a lot of people around are huge Mau5 fans but his show in Toronto at the Skydome was pretty awesome. I only wish he'd play the original Ghosts n Stuff instead of his newer version. The crowd was ok too, the closer to the front we made it the more into it the crowd was. On another note any other Ottawa area goons seeing Porter Robinson this Friday?

Heyo this goes out to all the Danger Fans, Can anyone explain what is going on here? Recently An old unreleased track (13h40) has been revealed here: http://www.stopthenoise.fr/2011/11/06/danger-13h40-et-ses-projets/ It sounds RAD TO THE MAX and echoes the older 2007-08 Danger, although there's no clear way of telling it's real... More importantly, if you read the article and look at the comments, the first post by a José is this little gem : http://i.imgur.com/BwWT7.png Looks like a whole catalogue of Danger tracks, of course how could any of this be real? Sure enough, in a later post José uploads another Danger Track (Sounding a lot less finished) : http://soundcloud.com/emmanuelderouge/21h34 I've tried to sherlock holmes this, but to no avail, can anyone shed any light? Or have any other theories? 13h40 sounds pretty convincingly like Danger, But I think this José is a load of BS
