Has anyone had experience buying from bleep.com ? They let you stream entire tracks and albums, have good quality mp3's and offer lossless formats. I haven't purchased from there yet, but I am thinking of picking up the Burial release from there in .wav.

Also, thanks for the Uppermost suggestion. All over that poo poo.

Bleep's all good. It's actually Warp Records digital store/distribution arm. I very, very rarely download music but on the occasion that there is a tune I really want, and annoyingly they've decided not to bring it out in a real format, Bleep is normally where I'll go. That or Juno.

Bleep is alright, but I prefer Boomkat or Junodownload because of the selection.

Saw this on Boys Noize's Facebook page a few hours ago and thought :

http://boilerroom.tv/boys-noizes-75-min-mix/

It's a great 75 minute mix, all vinyl, which you can enjoy either as a video or just as an audio file. The guy's really been one of my favourite DJ's for quite some time, especially after I heard his set at last year's Street Parade in Zürich. It wasn't an easy challenge to one up Gesaffelstein but Boys Noize's set was even better.

Gesaffelstein is doing some interesting stuff with techno right now, but check out the label hes signed to, Turbo. Namely Tiga, Clouds, Ivan Smagghe. Oh and The Hacker, he does a lot of stuff with him. I guess Brodinski since he just did a tour with him. Boys Noize and his record label. Boddika is also doing the whole 80s electro revival mixed with techno thing.
Thats the thing with really, really good DJs/producers, they usually run their own show and its hard to find stuff very close to what they are doing. Their ability to create and distinguish is what's making them famous y'know?
But you can isolate sounds and inspirations and thats where you should look. Try taking a Gesaffelstein set and picking it apart, next to recommendations that's usually your best bet for finding more.

The Bromance tour was SICK. Brodinski's label is pretty bomb and maybe similar to what you are look for Joopjan http://soundcloud.com/bromancerecords

Clouds is loving killing it these days with his releases. Turbo is definitely a label to watch.

Other labels you might want to check out include Southern Fried, Blood Music (Fake Blood's label), and GND Records.

I saw Madeon play live in San Francisco the other night. I really enjoy his remixes and his productions that I have heard, but I have to be honest and say that I came away from the set a tad underwhelmed. I know he plays live with Novation launchpads, and that is different from traditional live setups, but it left something to be desired. His transitions were sometimes awkward, but every song he played kept the groove going. I just got tired of the jarring transitions after awhile. Pop Culture sounds loving excellent on a large sound system, too. I was really disappointed that he didn't play his remix of The Island, but, oh well.

The fact that he plays with Novation launchpads doesn't mean a thing. Nicolas Jaar plays with Novation launchpads live. It just means Madeon doesn't know what he's doing. Tons of great DJs use Ableton (Surgeon, FaltyDL, Daft Punk) - it just means Madeon isn't that good.

being primarily a producer and playing live isn't easy at all. even having DJed for years, it took a long time and a lot of failures for me to actually be able to put together a decent set. i think he'll settle down (maybe) and retool it eventually to get rid of some of those awkward transitions - they're all over youtube so i think he gets it

To be fair, it's pretty hard to a good DJ with Ableton and there is an abyss of poo poo Ableton DJs. That's why most producers just use CDJs or Traktor.
