Those are pretty drat promising specs. Hopefully they get it out in time so that they're still "top of the line" when it's actually released. I definitely hope the HDMI-out thing is true. Any phone that can record at that high definition really needs that feature, and this would be one step towards helping it becomes standard.

I know they say stuff like Nokia uses resistive a lot because it's better for handwriting recognition but who are these freaks who are writing faster than they're typing? Even on a phone keyboard I type so much faster than I write. Plus if they're aiming for people who use the screen to write on, why bother with a keyboard?

It may come as a surprise to you, but there is a very significant portion of the human population that uses languages that have more characters than can reasonably fit on a compact keyboard.

sleepwalkers posted:Unless you're used to S60, you're going to start using it and realize how clunky and behind the times it is as a touchscreen smartphone OS. I used an N97 for a while and it was not even close to being a phone I wanted to use for an extended period of time. As a blackberry user I'm use to Operating systems that wouldn't have seemed innovative in 2005 let alone now so I wasn't really too worried about it until I actually got to use an n97 today. Holy. loving. poo poo. How on earth did this phone get past beta? The gui seems to have six or thirteen revolving themes around it and none of them mesh or even seem coherent, it's slow as dog poo poo as a Video / Media player and it really doesn't seem to do anything well except Ovi Maps or Web Browsing -- And on the latter, it awful with anything flash intensive. Is the n900 dramatically better or what's the deal? I really, really love the ergonomics of the n97 and the keyboard is the only thing thats ever felt comfortable to me except my blackberry and I can definitely sell the two together and get an n900 but it seems like its the size of the moon.

The N900 uses a completely different operating system. Look for the Maemo Megathread. It's more of a computer than a phone.

That would interest me if the camera turns out to be anywhere near decent. (it won't) All I want from a phone is offline maps and nav, a good camera (a decent 5mp), QWERTY, and good audio quality that's not A) unbelievably expensive B) decent speed. (read: stop using 400MHz ARM11s, Nokia) I don't even need wifi to be satisfied. I highly doubt this'll be the phone. I'd be very surprised.

The C series is supposed to be their midrange (less fancy than N-series, even), but the features you list are kind of standard now, so it could very well be "the phone" if you're looking for something on the cheap.
