there are parts on land that are kinda sketchy, but for doing marine research it is one of the most convenient and nice places in the world to work

never tried, but i assume it's pretty easy. we actually have to jump through a lot of hoops to buy latex gloves on the island because they just assume that anyone who wants that many gloves is a drug mule.

tbqh i was tempted to shove a tube of fruit flies up my rear end by the end of our last trip

we spent days collecting them for my ph.d. advisor, but they were giving us all kinds of poo poo about shipping them to the US. we had all the forms and everything but they finally just said "nope" and sent them back to curacao to be thrown away

i actually liked the "C2" coke that was around for a while that had half the amount of sugar/hfcs of regular coke. i probably only tried it because trying every variety of soda is the only way to not go insane from boredom when you are a teenager working in a gas station

the nipponese have a long and distinguished history of writing and philosophising about heiheihe achu (hay fever to those not in the know). your gaijin noses would not know the difference between the pollen of the jumutsita tree and the amrutsutu. having spent some time in japan myself i know but a little of their exquisite nuance. for example, in the anime Sansurakyruu Akihamtsu Uruu (Girl Love! Nose of the Heart),

it was half hfcs and half sucralose/artificial sweeteners, so you were deffo getting a good cross-section of "poo poo you dont really need to be ingesting". i liked it because it tasted less sweet and more spicy
